  1. I never went through with it, I found a last minute pair in my size on Facebook
  2. My first thoughts where stuck floats or the needles not seating properly. unfortunately the only real fix is strip down and re clean and make sure everything is immaculate when rebuilding
  3. If over 24 they can do direct access on a 600+ and ride anything if under 24 it’s a bit more complicated but then there will be power restrictions and another test required if they want to move up to a full license
  4. If it’s happening on accelerating I’d be looking at the reg\rec not regulating the voltage and overloading the systems
  5. For what’s it worth I done my test on an mt07, had a gsx600f for about 5 weeks then moved onto a tiger 955i for a couple of months and now ended up on a Zx9r within a few months of passing my test and feel like I could have went straight to the Zx9r with out much bother. It only goes as fast as you make it. the throttles smooth and the bike is stable and handles bumps and surprises well. anyone can kill themselves on anything but it also works where if you’re sensible you’re fine
  6. Not the end of the world dropping the sump bud. I fitted an overhauled engine from a 3rd party at work and when we started it up it was leaking from a timing case plug… only way to repair it was drop the engine again
  7. Doesn’t sound like much of a mechanic to be honest. find a decent bike mechanic and I’m 100% certain they’ll be able to rebuild it. or if you’re at all competent YouTube and Google are your friend and I’m sure you’ll be able to do it yourself whilst learning a new skill
  8. Can you not get a rebuild kit for the original carb?
  9. Simple bolt on job, well worth tackling yourself if you have any tools
  10. Hello mate, are you looking for road rides or off road?
  11. So what repairs did they carry out whilst it was there?
  12. The gearbox is contained in the lower half of the engine casings. to access the gears and shafts generally means splitting open the engine crank case. Sounds like a big job but if you have a good manual and a bit of common sense it’s not beyond the reach of a good diyer. or I’d imagine you could pick a whole engine up for £150-200 from a good breaker?
  13. If it’s only in 3rd then there’ll be something wrong with 3rd gear inside the box. I’d imagine the only remedy is open the box up and have a look
  14. Cheers, looks like sbs may be the best way to go!
  15. Hi all, following on from my previous post about ARN leathers are aftermarket armour inserts a standard size? just going through the order and the guy I’m talking to says the armours are all different sizes as I’ve asked for an empty suit to supply my own armour to fit In the pockets. any help appreciated
  16. You’re not Newcastle based by any chance are you?
  17. Bikesure have been good for most people in your situation. I’ve ended up on a classic policy with footman James apparently lexham are also worth a look
  18. I’m not familiar with scooters at all but I think we need more information, or a clearer description, of the fault. if it cuts out (engine turns off) then you’re looking at fuel or electrical if it won’t Rev (so engine is running but goes flat or unresponsive) most likely fuel if the belt was slipping I’d imagine that would show itself as the engine revs increasing but not the bikes speed. hopefully you can work out from there.
  19. Evening all, out of the 2 above tyres what would you recommend if they’re both the same price? For general riding, commuting and sunny day blasts. on a zx9r thanks for any input
  20. Had it out for a little run today just to pick a few things up from Seaham, very surprised by the comfort and definitely glad of the extra legroom from the lower pegs. but compared to my old tiger what a beast! I know compared to modern fuel injected bikes it’s lacking about 35+hp but it’s a big step up for me, definitely one to be respected. handling wise it seems very steady and planted but felt strange at first with how willing it is to drop into a corner with the slightest input to the bars and pegs. can’t wait to get out over the pennies once the roads are a touch drier! atb Bob
  21. I’ll take 152 please
  22. Cheers everyone, I’ve been through the design process with them and they can’t do enough so if people are happy I think I’ll make the leap!
  23. Hello all does anyone have experience with ARN leathers? sound too good to be true at their price and custom made is my only option due to size and build. I’d just like some real opinions before spending the cash.
  24. Cheers lads, I’ve just ordered a set of brackets to drop the foot pegs and then I think all will be well!
  25. Well okay regret this as I’m already not sure about the choice but I swapped my 2005 tiger 955 for this ‘99 zx9r today… it was sportsbikes that started the obsession with biking when I was around 5 years old but now I’m through my test I find most sportsbikes too small, the Kawasaki seems to be one of the most generous in physical size so I’ve taken the plunge and hope it doesn’t backfire on me
