  1. I know what I’m looking at next then haha
  2. What’re you driving to get that mpg and power combo!
  3. I’m in Stanley I’m trying every trick going to get away from the area all together!
  4. Well the iron works has gone so no more dust but consett is still an absolute dive
  5. I’m the total opposite, can fix most things made of metal but haven’t a clue where to start on even the simplest of house jobs
  6. I’m intending to do the nc500 in may but the other way round so if things tie in may bump into you at some point!
  7. That was meant to be my question any ideas on how best to pack it? I usually travel in a defender so space has never been an issue!
  8. On the stove subject does anyone take one of the cheap gas stoves woth them? The ones come in a mini brief case type thing and cost about £10 from Halfords etc?
  9. Cheers rich, helps to see it visualised!
  10. Sounds like the beginning of a norther forum trip to the lakes (Covid depending)
  11. This years plans aside from buy a house and restart my independent life are to play rugby again after a 2 year break following a tib/fib fracture, do the nc500 on the bike plus see other parts of the country, ideally get down to Cornwall and Devon as I’ve never been that way. some trips in the defender with the dogs to various places would also be nice. but mainly focus on getting back on the property market then just enjoy myself now I have the 2 toys I’ve been after for a while
  12. Same as @Bendersays, if you’re around Durham or as far up as Jedburgh/Kelso I’d link up and have a ride out!
  13. I’ve just put a bid on some Oxford bags on eBay... see what happens will 48l be enough or would I always feel they’re to small?
  14. I’m looking into throw over bags to put on my gsxf to give me some luggage space for trips this year, do I need an external frame or anything or are the bags themselves reinforced? thanks Jamie
  15. So daft to not do it when it’s already in pieces for that money... if it was a couple of hundred then I’d maybe understand... just can’t tell some people though
  16. I’ve got second hand stuff but what’s new stuff in the rented house I’m currently in, however now this Avenue is possibly opening up I’d rather have old stuff in my own house than new stuff in someone else’s!
  17. For my deposit I’m looking at approximately £9-10k I can afford the loan and mortgage payments as the mortgage would be Around £300 less than rent. I think the best way forward is find a family member looking for a new car or something like that and buy them it then they can “gift” me the money providing it’s from their savings and not also from a loan.
  18. Refurnish, It’s for new couch, tv, bed, fridge etc. As I’m currently using a right mismatch of stuff, but my circumstances have changed that now mean I’m eligible for mortgages again but now in a situation where I can’t get the deposit together
  19. Not good news... now I’m stuck with a loan that I have to pay plus rent and savings on top
  20. Hi all, Me and my partner broke up 6 months ago and she kept the house. I’ve been renting since then and have just taken out a loan to refurnish the house as I’ve been making do with bits I’ve scrounged off friends and family. I’ve just been informed that my co tract is being made permanent at work so I can now apply for mortgages again, would I be able to use this loan as part of my deposit (Roughly 50% of the deposit) or is it a big no no? any thoughts welcome
  21. Definitely, just hope it continues like this!
  22. Went for a blast to confirm yesterday’s repairs where effective, took it steady around the local area a couple of times so if it conked out I was in pushing distance of home then ventured further afield on a mix of motorway, dual carriageways and country road just to get more miles under my belt. Now on 180 miles since passing my test.

    Cutting out

I think so, took the float bowls off and there where 3 things I’d identify as jets, all removed with a screwdriver and had small holes drilled straight through? they all got blasting with brake cleaner and blown through with an air line

    Cutting out

I had a spare afternoon so I drained some fuel from the float bowls into a clean container and was greeted by lots of sediment. seeing this I stripped the fairing etc. Off and removed the carbs to strip them down. this was a learning curve for me so I pulled off 1 float chamber at a time and removed the float, needle and the jets before turning it over and removing the diaphragm and giving everything a good blast out with brake cleaner and compressed air. Each component was then cleaned and blown through prior to reassembly. with the carbs back on the bike took a while to start and was spluttering and stalling again so I wasn’t sure if I’d done something wrong but a bit of perseverance and playing with the choke had it running again and it now isles and revs smoothly. I can only assume that it took a little while for the carbs to refill with petrol? Tomorrow I’ll go for a local ride so I’m in within pushing distance of home just to make sure it’s all okay before venturing further.
  25. Well... I attend the depot at times the company decides haha
