Ride to the National Memorial Arboretum… South Yorks group met at Woodall Services M1 … Molly my GDaughter and all year round pillion (as in the dark deep winter) came along for the ride … she throughly enjoyed the ride and the lamb burger at the NMA … We walked up to The Wall and I showed her the names and told the stories of the 2 crews I had lost while serving on 23 Sqdn in the Falklands and 74 Sqdn Wattisham. She took it all in as I tried not to fill up with tears … She’s a tough maid .. coast and back rides on the coldest days never phase her … She took 1 of me … Seems like only yesterday ……… A good day amongst comrades and family …

We are camping at the Douglas Rugby Club for practice at the TT again this year … We are returning to England on the 0845 sailing on the 1st June. SO ……. 4 berth double skin tent, single airbeds x 2. Folding camp chairs x 2, sleeping bags x 2 ( you don’t have to sleep in them, ideal for putting over the airbeds ) All Tesco Finest. If this package would save you hauling kit to the island drop me a line. We recycled all our camping gear last year, I pick it up , click and collect, from Tesco in Douglas and we send all our clothes for the week by EVRI …… Last year a couple of Irish lads, who were sleeping in a tiny tent, pounced on us when we put a sign up offering the kit ….

Service, chain tension, new lock, … that’s 2 disc locks, 1 with alarm, and an Oxford chain and lock … and … it’s own CCTV camera with motion sensor…. A garage would be so much easier … Need a new rear tyre, 2016 Suzuki V Strom 650DL, tarmac use only, something that won’t square off too fast … and inexpensive… Any thoughts chaps …

I’ve repaired 2 plastic tanks successfully using the following … wash tank out with hot soapy water … washing up liquid … attach a hose , garden hose , to the exhaust of a petrol car and use the fumes to dry the tank out …. Fill the crack with epoxy resin , 5 minute type .. if it falls in keep adding it until the crack is filled to be level with the surface … 72 hours in a warm cupboard …. It works …. 2 plastic tanks sorted Aprillia and Yamaha. …

On Thursday night a local lad had his CBR 600 stolen from outside his house. He had passed his test 2 day previous. Just bought the bike…. Yes it wasn’t locked … it was only 11pm and he was going to lock it before he went to bed … 3 Teenage Yorkshire Scum … all dressed in black .. as usual .. wheeled it away … seen on cameras 2 miles away later still being pushed .. Owner has been around every house with cctv in the area asking if it could be tracked … Heartbroken guy .. I’ve got an Mot’d CBR 600 F sat around doing nothing , not been ridden for 12 months … I gave him a call, offered my bike as a long term loan until he got sorted out …He thanked me .. lots … but when he saw the pictures…. He offered more than the bike owed me …. It’s his now… But … there’s an awful lot of us bikers within 2 miles of his house, some serious back patch club members … allegedly …… those 3 scrotes are on borrowed time … It would be best for everyone if the bike was just found parked up at the local shopping precinct in the morning …

Went for a ride out with Connor ( Aprillia Tuono 125 ) and Molly on my pillon. Into the Peaks then down my favourite short thrash … Derne Valley Parkway… from Junction 36 M1 to Junction 37 A1M at Doncaster this stretch of road has roundabouts every 2 - 3 miles and is great for cranking the bike over under power. One of the roundabouts is bowl shaped, you have to pop over the lip on the way out eastbound …. Dropped into J&S Doncaster… Connor needed to buy something …??? I now have a Cardo Intercom ….. …. Connor’s fed up with trying to work out where we’re going and what lane I’m about to switch out of to head a totally new direction without the use of indicators … I baulked at fitting it to my Arai so it’s installed in my LS2 helmet … The next ride should be fun ………. …..

Washed the 400 + miles of grime off the bike from last Mondays big ride ( for me ) .... off to Morrisons to jet wash the thick deposits of chainlube off the suspension linkages and chain side wheel rim .... such fun ..... oil change when i get home ....

Planned with military precision .. then pretty much ignored …. Go up, go across, come down, go across and go home …. Family loved the AirTag…. They logged in to see where I was half a dozen times …. When home I handed the AirTag back and installed an AirTag detection app on my phone ..

I fell asleep in the bath and snored !!!! And I got receipts from the Shell station at Whitby, Penny’s Garage west of Whitby, Southwaite Services Greggs and the BP petrol station north of Kendal …. Because there’s always someone with a bad attitude ..

Went for a ride out today. Set off at 0545hrs. Rotherham, Beverley, Scarborough, Whitby, Middlesbrough, Newcastle on Tyne, Carlisle, Penrith, Keswick, Kendal, Skipton, Weatherby, Doncaster, back home. Poured with rain as far as Middlesbrough then mostly cleared up … Fantastic ride out … had an Apple AirTag in my bag so wife and family could see where I was … worked well. 433 miles on the odometer….. I’ll take that …10 hours 15 mins in the saddle …. Great day out ..£36 in fuel with 2 bars left on the gauge and £5.90 for a Greggs lunch at Southwaite services ..

Any local shop that sells plastic model kits (airfix etc) will have super fine filler for use on the models they sell .
