A run out to Squires Cafe after taking the grandson back to his mummy, via the football cage at Bill Chafer VC park … There was a cycling event on at Squires which led to long queues for a drink so I set off to Selby, Snaith, Thorne and home … 78 miles of peace …. 2 attempts to kill me, A1 roadworks and M18 congestion …. As a lifelong cyclist it was nice to see the 2 different variations at the same place …

Had the best of days yesterday, Sunday. My 19 year old grandson passed his CBT last week, took delivery of his Aprillia Tuono 125 last Thursday. We spent Sunday morning 0800hrs - 1000hrs with him learning to use clutch and gears .... rev stall, rev stall, rev stall ..... then smooth pulling away without any issue. Sunday at 1400hrs I got my 650 V-Strom out and we went for a ride together, Rotherham through the lanes to J&S in Doncaster, then back via Barnsley ..... The Tuono is a physically large bike with 14.7 bhp available ... it's a cracker .... The plan is get him through his A2 before May so he can come to the TT with me ..again... but this time not as a pillion !! Magic day ....

Some years ago Save the Children started a major campaign to stop children between 4 and 7 working in brick works in Chile. There was a press and tv campaign and the Chilean government were starting to cave in when a reporter from ITN went to one the brickworks and interviewed the mother of one of the children. She was heart broken that they where trying to stop the children working in the brick yards, The children all had little steel wheelbarrows and transported bricks 1-2 at a time around the yard ... human conveyor belt. They did this for 2 hours in the morning and an hour in the afternoon ...... But here's the thing ....In return they where provided with breakfast and lunch and 3 hours professional schooling per day.... Parents where queuing up to get their children working there as they could not pay for school and the children had regular food. And Save the Children wanted to stop that ????? They ended their campaign and children still work in brickworks in Chile and other countries in South America.

Ride To The Wall .. 2023 So 600+ bikes expected at our start point .... nearly 800 turned up ... many unregistered with RTTW ... why not ... 6000+ bikers, Veterans and their families expected at the National Memorial Arboretum, some MSM say 8000, some say 10,000n turned up ... The BBC will ignore it ... no Trans or Boat people involved ... To be there, surrounded by fellow Veterans and their families was amazing ... At The Wall I found the 2 crews I lost .. John Gostick and Tim Bell ... Euan and Nick ..... Falklands and 74 SQDN ...... 700 mph into the hill is going to have a sub optimal outcome ... Julie had brought tissues as she knew there would be tears ... An amazing day out for any motorcyclist .... The line of bikes down the M1 inside lane was amazing to behold ...we never saw the front of the line .... Thanks to SYPF for their involvement. Julies first time on the motorbike in 20 years ... like she had never been off it .. well the titanium hip and the spinal injuries made getting on and off fun ..not ... thanks to all that helped ........ And to all the RTTW marshals .... respect and thanks ...
