  1. Don't look at oncoming lights. It is easy to get fixated on bright oncoming lights but try to look at the road, not the lights.
  2. I tested a R1300GS and it was fine. Why they can't be consistent is a mystery to me.
  3. https://www.gov.uk/driving-licence-codes You can ride a tricycle. And a moped
  4. It might be easier if we could read it!
  5. That would be funny if it wasn't true!
  6. The BMW R1200R, R1250R and R1250RS all have side stands that are too long - you need an incline otherwise you have to use the centrestand.
  7. "BSAU159f states that no repairs are allowed in the sidewalls (these flex continuously and a repair is likely to fail), and the standard says repairs are not allowed on high speed Z-rated tyres"
  8. As said earlier, there is no approved method of repairing Z rated tyres.
  9. Most people seem to plug tyres and ride for miles with no problems. For Z rated tyres there isn't a recommended repair method but otherwise you could get it repaired if you are not confident. I've never had tyres plugged and changed them when punctured
  10. The wheel turns and rocks from side to side depending on what you are doing. Turning the wheel goes up and down menu lists, left/right goes left & right. There is usually a clue as to which way you can go on the screen- an arrow or two.
  11. Does pushing right work on other screens? For example on the screen before the one you showed (my vehicle) you should get a choice which includes setting/nav/sport screen ... can you scroll right then?
  12. Yes, the arrow on the right means you press the wonderwheel to the right to get to the next screen.
  13. I usually replace my pinlock every year and the visor every couple of years. They both get minute scratches which reduces visibility. I don't use the pinlock in summer when the weather is warm enough.
  14. They stopped using solid front wheels on push bikes when they realised what happened in cross winds.
  15. I assume you are talking small bikes (125s)? I have never had problems with big bikes, but you do need to make sure you have the road space as you wbe blown around.
  16. Shouldn't it have been in the water?
  17. What you probably need is a hydrophobic coating - never tried one and don't know what they cost.
  18. In winter, certainly. When the temperatures are above 14C I remove mine for a clearer view.
  19. I ended up on a dirt road on my BMW R1200R with my wife on pillion (dodging massive traffic jams on a bank holiday). It was ok but hard work keeping in a straight line. Luckily it was a wide track so I had plenty of room to manoeuvre.
  20. R1250R (or RS) - bags of torque, enough power, probably 50kg lighter than the K1200. I had a K1200RS and moved to the boxers.

    Kick stand

It's quite common for BMW R1200R riders to complain about not enough lean and the simple solution is a local welder. Getting a bit of extra length welded on should be easy. Or a foot extender would add a little extra length
  22. Public, but only to registered users, I guess.
  23. Swarovski have always been good at service. I accidentally caught my binoculars when slamming the boot lid which broke the strap mounting lug. They were around 25 years old a the time. Cost around £50 for the repair but, I assume due to lack of old parts, they completely rebuilt them so they worked as good as new, although looking slightly different.
  24. I assume it is split front/back, but not equally. For the F800GS you have 54 front & 69 back which corresponds to 212kg & 325kg which combined is more than the permitted total weight of the bike+rider+pillion+luggage.
  25. Except my wife finds she needs rigid spectacle arms otherwise she cannot push them through the padding in her full face helmet. As someone mentioned, it is a good idea to take your helmet when choosing your glasses.
