I use R&G sports bike covers, cost about £40 on ebay (I managed to get my latest ones for £35 each new). They are pretty tough, they're elastic round the bottom, have 2 clips underneath (at the front and back) to hold it onto the bike and a hole nr the front wheel to put a chain through.

Bandit Soft Luggage
iiisecondcreep replied to a topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I got 2nd hand 60l oxford panniers on ebay for quite cheap. Used them going to cornwall and back a few yrs ago. Looking quickly on ebay just now there are lots of 2nd hand full sets of soft luggage with low starting bids -
So he's done this to you before?? Why did you use him again?? The bloke sounds a real idiot. Would be careful making threats - no telling what he might do! Only with the gsxr this year (and I sort of put that down to we didn't actually know the extent of work that would be required to get it through its mot after having sat sorn'd for the last 2-3yrs), we used him last year for the vfr and the speed four and had no problems (wasn't quick, but not this slow either and communication was good throughout). If he'd done this last year I'd never have went back to him. A lot of my local MCC use him also and he is/was highly recommended.

3months (22nd may - 22nd august). I don't know yet, went to start it and the battery was completely flat so I need to bring it in and charge it. Think I'm going to just tell him I insist on an invoice. I already have invoices from when he had my other bike (for 2 months) and last year also. Might just tell him he takes the risk of giving me an invoice and it getting into "the wrong hands" (the right hands, surely!) or guarantee that one of my previous invoices does as well as evidence of the fact that I have paid him for the most recent work...
-
Nope. I sent him a msg on Facebook last friday asking for an invoice, he said he'd email me one. That was fine. Still haven't received it, so went on FB to msg him a short while back only to find his FB page gone. Sent him a text and got this back: So I have handed him £x in good faith and he is now refusing me an invoice. Frankly I couldn't care less about his personal circumstances, and if he has been doing something illegal than hell mend him. I just want an invoice! I will contact citizens advice (if I can get through to them) and ask if I can demand an invoice.

Motorcycle instructor (with the company name and 'instructor' plastered all over his bike, jacket and panniers) tailgaiting us through a residential 30mph before overtaking when possible and speeding off well in excess of the marked 30mph speed limit. With a pillion on board.

Well I came home today to find my bike parked outside Not actually been and looked at it yet, just can't be bothered right now. But its back (with an MOT), finally Thanks for all your support guys, think I've used up a lifetimes worth of patience on this guy so it defo won't be allowed to happen again (in saying that, I can't imagine getting service that bad anywhere else!!)

I've sent a message to him saying to arrange have the bike returned to me no later than friday of this week with or without MOT.
-
I already asked him, £170 for the work done so far. I wasn't able to get in touch with CAB today. The last message I got from him was a week ago today saying he'd let me know the next day what was happening
-
Thanks guys, fredc unfortunately neither of our cars have tow bars! Since the last message I've heard nothing. I'm giving him until Monday and I will be sending him a message to say i want the bike back by the end of the week (so for him to arrange delivery), MOT'd or not. If the chain is split thats no issue as I have a motorbike MOT garage within a few mins walk (push!). I'm very much a fair weather biker, my bike is taxed and insured and otherwise ready to go. I've now missed the best of the season thanks to him. Might also drop CAB a line to see where I stand in terms of being able to force him to get the bike back to me.

last weekend on the friday he told me it'd 99% be ready on the Sat but if not it would definitely be ready on the monday. Monday came, he put a msg on his FB saying he was ill and wouldn't be in the garage that day for anyone waiting on anything - but never sent me a msg personally. By friday I'd still heard nothing (although I saw on his FB that he'd had someone elses bike in for new tyres since the monday!) so i sent him a msg asking what was happening. He told me "everything is done except MOT" but that the 2 garages he usually uses are closed for 2 weeks (yup...) but he was going to use the one round the corner from me on Monday (yesterday) and drop the bike off to me. Heard nothing all day yesterday, got home - no bike. Sent him a msg and got this back But wait, I thought "everything was done"?! I don't know anyone with a van or trailer so i am contacting other bikey people I know to see if they do and the intention is to get the bike picked up from him and pay him for what he's done, I've had enough.

handed my bike to mechanic on 22nd may. Was promised it back last week, nothing. Promised again today only to be told the chain has snapped and the spare link i gave him is apparently wrong. on top of that, he never bothered to let me know. I had to ask him where my bike was. Absolutely livid. This guy is absolutely unbelievable. I have no way of collecting the bike, I don't know anyone with a van or a trailor.

Still not got my bike back. Two and a half months he's had it.

Painting the living room for the new carpet being fitted next weekend

Had no plans, but after being rudely awoken by a sectarian collective being noisey and (as we found out on getting home) dropping litter everywhere outside our flat we made a sharp exit and went through to Glasgow to collect a painting from the framers. So we had breakfast of fruit scones with clotted cream and jam with coffee in a cafe. Then a walk through the Botanic Gardens where we made some friends And bought some cacti from the Botanic Gardens cactus event Then we went to Hippo Beers and bought a selection of beers (we like our IPAs ) Unfortunately the 'collective' will be returning to make more noise and drop more litter at 4pm so only briefly home before we need to head out again :/ at least it gives the beer a chance to chill!

The individual driving the dark Land Rover with the personalised number plate who pulled out in front of me driving through town, then proceeded to drive through the 30mph residental area at probably 45mph+, caught up with him at a roundabout, once on the M80 motorway he changed lanes into me, sounded the horn but he just kept going, was around 12" from hitting me before I could move into the RH lane and get away, then proceeded to keep driving extremely close behind me then backing off whenever I moved into the RH lane to over take (he never moved into the LH lane, but when I moved back he'd back right off). Eventually I moved out to overtake (while he was miles back in the RH lane) he then came flying up and was so close I couldn't see his number plate and thought he was going to hit me. Got out his way asap (and he still remained in the RH lane not overtaking) and called the police.

Biker who overtook us going round a blind right hand bend to catch up with his mate, luckily for him nothing was coming the other way.
-
Stupid b*tch who pulled out on me from a junction on the right as I was coming along a straight section of national speed limit road in good visibility (in my bright yellow car!). I was doing 60mph, I beeped the horn she continued on her merry way- one hand hanging out the window with a fag between her fingers- at 35mph. I overtook her at the next available opportunity at which point she started blaring the horn at me and making hand gestures.

I had message yesterday from the blokey who is servicing/MOT'ing my viff ('96 vfr750) to say that the spark plug in the rear cylinder snapped and was stuck in, and removing it is proving to be extremely problematic. He is saying it might be a huge job requiring either engine strip and removal of the damaged cylinder or worst case a new engine. Posted this on the VFR forum and they seem to be generally agreeing thats its likely at least to be an engine out job. He's away on hols now so won't be getting another update for several weeks, I was just wondering if anyone on here had any experience of this, and if so what was the outcome?

Been watching this thread for a while... but didn't want to be the first unsatisfied poster! Bought my K3 in July 2012 for around £160, but on the basis that I was only the bike 3 times last year I am still only going to count that as 1yrs ownership. I had set criteria when I was shopping for a new lid but that went out the window and I bought a pretty instead. Mine must be the older one as it has no internal sun visor (which was one of my criteria) It also did not come with a pinlock visor which was another criteria (i can buy a pinlock visor but they are quite pricey). The reason I was buying a new lid was because my old caberg trip was so drafty which is very unpleasant when its cold out. I noticed pretty quickly that the agv was just as if not more drafty than the Caberg. So I took it back to the shop and it turned out that the rubber seal around the visor was not complete so there were open gaps at the side. I don't remember if it went to AGV or if the shop sorted the seal problem but anyway it now had a proper seal all the way round. Noticed on my next ride out that it was still extremely drafty. Back to the shop again and turned out there was a fault where the visor attaches and the clip was loose. So it went back to AGV who replaced the lid. I didn't think I'd miss the internal sun visor a huge amount but quickly found I was wrong, forked out £40 for tinted visor. The tinted visor does the trick but having to stop, get off the bike, remove helmet to change the visor is a PITA. It may be possible to change the visor without removing lid but I find the catch quite fiddly and haven't managed yet. I still find the lid to be very drafty (with vents closed) which means I won't go out when its cold because ice cold air hitting your face isn't fun. Also find it to be very noisey, was expecting it to be quieter than my flip front lid but not so. Same as Burgess118, I find the lid to be very close around the ears and so I can't use the intercom we bought, my regular earphones don't fit either so I can't even just swap them. Much of this is my fault, I know! But the main reason for buying a new lid was because of how drafty my Caberg had become (visor maybe twisted due to being taken off for cleaning?) and I wanted one with a gold sticker in case I do a track day. It has the gold sticker, and sure the draftiness is great when its 20+ outside but i live in scotland so it hardly ever is meaning it does not fulfill the main reason I bought it. If I start riding again with any regularity I will definitely be buying a replacement. Which is a shame because it is really pretty!
