  1. New front tyre on the Tiger Explorer. Bikesafe course booked next weekend, wouldn't be a good look to turn up with squared off tyres down to the wear markings. Unfortunately, it looks as if the brakes are also in need of replacing. The r/h pads are not much thicker than a piece of paper. I don't understand it, they were fine when I bought the bike! Oh well, something to keep me occupied in the week. The rear (Michelin Road 5 Trail) is still relatively healthy after 7,800 miles. In other news, the Titan compressor purchased last year from Screwfix was making a rather bad smell and not getting up to pressure and then cutting out as expected. Stuck it in the back of the car, took it in to the shop expecting them to send it away for inspection. Instead, they just swapped it for a new one, no questions asked. It still has a year on the warranty left. Fair play to them.
  2. I tend to agree... Although many moons ago, Mrs. Fiddlesticks was pregnant and I developed cravings for the stuff. Not quite sure how that works?!
  3. I resemble that remark!
  4. Looking at your choices I'd be tempted to suggest a Pan European - if you can find a good one? Comfortable, good weather protection, bomb proof engine...
  5. You can't take the A Licence on an A2 restricted bike. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1158159/motorcycle-test-vehicle-list.csv/preview As to how they'd know... Presumably if you rock up to the test centre on the bike with no L's or instructor then you'd be either braking the law by riding a bike too powerful for the A2 license or not powerful enough for the test. Not sure about proof of insurance - but I don't think they check it.

  8. One guy today - clueless dog owner letting his animals run all over. Dog threw up on the pavement, the fella didn't even have a bag. Someone had to tell him to sort out out. A second person gave him a bag. A third had to do the job properly after he left half of it there for everyone to walk through.
  9. Took Mrs. Fiddlesticks for a short run to Eastham on the new Thunderbird Storm between actual rain storms. The local bike club were doing a fundraiser for MND. Sat and listened to the band for a bit. Some pics of the wee beastie. Very happy so far - slowly getting used to this whole feet first malarkey.

    New here

    Hi, welcome
  14. Just picked up a nice Triumph Thunderbird which is five years old and barely run in with only about 2700 miles on the clock. At the other extreme the Explorer is ten years old and almost about to roll over to 50k.
  15. https://xjrparts.co.uk/36y-16371-00-clutch-boss-1702-p.asp Any good?
  16. Lovely bike, had it since the beginning of 2022. It is a 2007 model in cobalt blue with 25,849 miles on the clock, may increase slightly. Some age-related marks (mostly just paint wear on the pillion grab bar), but good condition overall. Smooth powerful inline four engine. About 500 miles since I really went to town on her... Two new tyres - Dunlop Roadsmart IV Oil & filter change (Castrol's finest) New K&N air filter Greased swingarm and gave everything a good clean & polish New DID ZVM-X Super Heavy Duty X-Ring Gold Chain and JT Sprockets New brake pads front and rear Fitted an optimate charge lead Clutch slave cylinder rebuilt MOT was passed at the end of Feb (advisory for one of the new rear pads which was brushing the disk - it's now bedded in). Since then, only dry miles - otherwise it's been under a sheet on the Optimate in the garage. Aftermarket mirrors, Ohlins shocks, XJT rad guard, crash bungs, HEL braded hoses, front fender extender, standard oil filter adapter and a Beowulf exhaust (loud). Complete with 3 keys (including the red key), handbook, manual and service book. I also have some spare (unopened) bearings and bits. £4250 - located Wirral.

  17. Hi, welcome..
  18. I guess the trick would be working out whether there was a way to add value to the biker market over and above simply renting a camper to the non-riding partner for a week. It could be a neat marketing angle with nothing more to it than that. Alternatively you might want to set up organised tours catering for a bunch of riders at a time where you'd sell the whole package including routes, accomodation, communal evening meals, activities, even optional bike hire.
  19. Happy birthday

    Hiya

Looking forward to reading about your travels
  21. Happy Birthday
  22. Bit disappointed that the flip up cover only hides a button which calls the authorities. It's 2023. Where's my missile launcher?
  23. The camera and bluetooth will be separate items. Helmets are one of those things you've got to try on. I must have tried half a dozen before I found one that fit just right. If the shop staff are experienced, they'll advise. My local guy won't sell you a helmet if he's not happy with how it fits you. Very kind gesture on your part
