  1. Hooligan!
  2. You don't see the arrow if the lights are on red though! Just a red light and a stop line.
  3. Came across this one yesterday. https://www.google.com/maps/@53.3051338,-3.0549991,0a,80.6y,149.86h,87.19t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sB3YLlVTjXdpxEF_siF-u-g!2e0 I'm in the turn left lane. Lights are on red. There is no traffic light to my left, so ordinarily I'd think that the lights only apply to the straight on lanes. Additionally, there's a give way mark further ahead before the left turn. However.. There's a white stop line across all three lanes. What do you think?
  4. Happy Birthday
  5. I didn't ride the XJR much over winter. Gave it a coat of weather protection (XCP / ACF50). Brimmed the tank with super and left it under cover in the garage on an Optimate battery maintainer. I did fire it up every now and again. If it wasn't on the centre stand I might have shuffled it about a bit if worried about tyre flat spots although not sure how much of an issue that would actually be.
  6. Happy birthday!
  7. I wonder whether playing the long game would work out cheaper overall... Eg. Buy the cheapest knackered old 50cc scooter you can find. Store it somewhere secure. Maybe do it up a bit. Insure it third party only. Don't even ride it. A year later you have one years' no claims bonus, a year of "riding experience" and a fixed up scooter to sell. It's no wonder electric bicycles are so popular with motorbike insurance so high.
  8. Depends on a lot of factors - postcode, garaged or not, job title, expected mileage, homeowner status, martial status, commuting included, fully comp vs. third party fire & theft, age, experience etc. Sadly you're at the sticky end of most of that lot when you're young. Best of luck.
  9. Absolutely no idea, but I raise a glass to your spirit of adventure. Post some pictures
  10. Hi Andy, Looking forward to seeing some pics in the challenge thread. Have fun.
  11. Hi there.
  12. Have used both. Both good. Fowlers have decent technical drawings and will respond quickly to queries. Not had cause to ask WeMoto any questions, but they did send free stickers so they get a big thumbs-up too. Also check out Demon Tweeks.
  13. I'd be looking at A (unrestricted) - AKA direct access. Theory MOD1 MOD2 Then you're fully qualified.
  14. LOVE Eric Bibb!

  16. Personal choice, but I'd veer towards the Vstrom. It mentions a tall seat height here. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/suzuki/dl1000-v-strom/ There's also the 650 version, comparison here. https://ridermagazine.com/2018/12/13/2018-suzuki-v-strom-650xt-vs-v-strom-1000xt-comparison-review/ Maybe have a sit on them all (after the 125 they'll all feel great). Then get some insurance quotes and go from there. On the going big straight away thing, I think it's a personal choice. My first bike was the XJR1300. No ABS, ridiculous torque and completely impractical for riding to work in the rain. Oodles of power was only a problem when it came to getting insurance quotes. (And even then, it was doable). You don't have to use it all... The Tiger Explorer 1200 has been great for touring, but it's high mileage and has has some minor (and less minor) issues that you wouldn't get on a newer bike. There are plenty of older ones for sale, same with the BMW 1200 GS. Might be a way to get into larger bikes without the larger price tag.
  17. We should be passing on our way back from France on the Saturday evening. Hope to stop by and find a room in one of the local hotels.
  18. I'll use cash while it's still legal. Nice to have the choice.
  19. Had a nice ride out to North Wales. Came home via The Tap at Eastham. Parked up, blipped the motion alarm, which sat there quietly until a Harley Davidson fired up and shook the ground so much it set it off.
  20. North Wales #14 - Sugar Plum Tearoom
  21. It's a good marketing strategy though - save ten percent on a litre of fuel that will take you 90% of the distance with worse performance.
  22. That sounds like a lot of fun. Will keep an eye out for future events.
  23. Sorry, shouldn't laugh, but this came to mind..
  24. I know that feeling.
