  1. It's the perfect answer to the question "Do you know why I've stopped you Sir?" "You've finally found the motorbike I reported missing in 1992?"
  2. Boating accident ..
  3. Have also mucked about with cable ties and g clamps without much success. Hmm. That sounds much ruder than intended.
  4. My setup.. Amazon - BTSKY Tire Levers Spoon Set of 3 Amazon - Johiux 44pcs Valve Core Remover Tool Amazon - Haskyy 7 Wheel weights BLACK 12x5g Ebay - Tyre bay direct black tyre bead paste - 5kg Ebay - Qtech Motorcycle Motorbike Static WHEEL BALANCER Portable STAND Ebay - TRIUMPH STATIC WHEEL BALANCER ADAPTER FOR TIGER EXPLORER & ROCKET 3 (extra large cones needed as back wheel attaches to single sided swing arm and has a large hub) Screwfix - Titan TTB797CPR 24Ltr Electric Oil-Free Air Compressor with 5 Piece Accessory Kit (got a bit of stick on here for that one, but it works fine, just got to remember to leave the drain plug out) - also got a quick release kit for this to swap out the tools easily. It's also handy for applying XCP /ACF50 and other little jobs. Wife - Hairdryer (don't tell her) Using the spoons takes technique and force, but as with everything there's youtube. Tried everything, including the local petrol station airline before getting the compressor, nothing worked.
  5. Worth also noting that you won't build up any more NCD if you cancel mid term.
  6. 1. Protection on the NCD is an extra fee you pay to keep your No Claims Discount even if you make a claim. So without it, if you have ten years NCD and make a claim your NCD resets to zero. You can pay extra to "protect" it, and keep it at 10 years regardless, however your renewal premium will likely still increase due to the claim (although maybe not as much). 2. You might get something back, but probably not pro-rata. There'll likely be a cancellation fee. Worth checking before you buy.
  7. Be alert. Your country needs lerts.
  8. Great bikes
  9. Nowt. Disabled it last week.
  10. Thanks again everyone. Just done a test ride and everything works as expected. Shudder to think what Triumph would have charged me.
  11. Success! Got the whole thing bolted down to the jig, braced both ends with it slightly high in the middle, and pushed downwards.
  12. With regards to re-assembly.. Does the snap ring go around the splines first before tapping into place, or should I be taking it off the shaft and placing it in the groove within the diff, then tapping the shaft down? Have been wrestling with option 1 for a bit but don't want to give it too much welly and screw it up.
  13. Both lovely looking bikes, but not sure I'd want to ride them in the rain looking at those tiny front mudguards. I don't think you'll beat the Yamaha for reliability, but best of luck with your search.
  14. Had something similar with the Tiger - turned out the ignition barrel needed replacing as one of the wires from it was cracked.
  15. Stick it in a bin bag and call it general waste.
  16. After a brief but fruitless dalliance with the reciprocating saw with half an eye on the wheelie bin I discovered it was much easier to take them to the local tip, where they have a purpose-built receptacle.
  17. Thanks, Yes, it just needed a bit of persuasion. The trick was getting hold of it. With the help of a hastily built jig and a tap spanner it came out OK. Looks like there's a bit of a washer in the end of the shaft. Noticed that on the technical drawing for the replacement that hasn't arrived yet. Not sure quite what the point is of that or how the new one will go back in. Yes, could have been the fast lane of the M6! The boot will live to fight another day.
  18. Anyone know the trick to getting the shaft out of the rear drive unit?
  19. Homebase do a helmet-sized unit, that's about as far as I've got...
  20. Removed the knackered swing arm. Ordered some replacement parts off ebay / fowlers.
