  1. Quick off the mark there, @onesea
  2. Might just be me, but "Air Source Heat Pump" sounds about as believable as "Perpetual Motion Machine". Bit of a chill in the air? You'll never guess where we can source some heat from to warm it up...
  3. Carrying some speed in the bend before the straight helps. It's a bit unnerving at first because you have to lean the bike.
  4. Well, I took meter readings the other day when the heating was on, threw them into a spreadsheet to calculate what 24 hours in a nice warm house would cost, and decided that we could put an extra layer on instead. Mrs. Fiddlesticks is in disagreement with this proposed course of action, so we have compromised and put the heating on full.
  5. Similar distance to my commute, albeit I'm only there once or twice a week. I'd be looking for something like a Kawasaki Versys 650 or a Suzuki V-Strom 650. Not too much plastic fairing to break in the event of a minor spill, but still with a bit of weather protection, screen etc. Heated grips would be useful in bad weather. Plenty of power. Space for a top box. Comfortable riding position. Don't forget to factor in jacket, boots, gloves, waterproofs etc. I enjoy the commute, but it certainly doesn't save me much - if any - money.
  6. Should have taken a leaf out of John Profumo's book and quietly devoted himself to charity work.
  7. Save water - shower with a friend.
  8. For us, the weekend starts on Friday. Driving, not riding this time, although the first leg is on foot, so to speak. Iona to Mull. Mull to Oban. Oban to Wolviston. Wolviston to Whitby. Whitby to Birkenhead. Pick the bike up Monday morning from the exhaust shop, say a quick prayer that it doesn't fall apart again and ride an hour to work. Probably sleep on Tuesday.

Why is there no mouse flavour cat food?
  10. ... And don't get me started on Wagon Wheels...
  11. Axminster FTW.
  12. Good to have you.
  13. Surely in the case of a fire alarm the magnetic door lock thingys should automatically open? Maybe they were wired in backwards.
  14. Nothing says climate justice like making a load of unnecessary work for an overworked minimum wage shop assistant.
  15. I wear "waterproof" textiles over my jeans, but they only really keep a light shower away. Unless you spend serious money on laminated or goretex gear then maybe don't expect too much. Even my one piece rainsuit has been known to let water in around the crotch where it pools.
  16. It was something I saw on a YouTube video. Apparently, you could get hit, dump the clutch involuntarily, grip the throttle and go flying. Or something. I'm with you though. Leave it in gear, keep an eye on the mirror and have an escape route ready. Plenty of space in front as well.
  17. Barstewards.
  18. Front or rear facing?
  19. Not with MCE on third party.
  20. I agree, but I there is a school of thought that believes being in neutral is safer. They call it the Hendon Shuffle.
  21. .. Gentlemen don't sail to windward.
  22. Found a couple more..
  23. I was wondering about a custom stainless system but not sure about the legality of removing the cat.
