  1. Hi. Planning similar. Will be interested in this too.
  2. I did both front and back pads on the XJR pro-actively recently. Easy job, and it's not like the pads cost a lot.
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. I did the same thing on the fig. 8. So frustrating. I booked a lesson full of U Turns and figure 8's before the next one. It takes a bit of time to get the confidence to lean the bike, using the clutch and back brake to keep the speed high enough so it doesn't fall. All the time shifting your weight to give maximum advantage. Do something long enough though, it'll be second nature. Best of luck for the next one.
  5. Good foresight though. I bought mine in the heatwave last year. It was one of only two left in the shop.
  6. Have a good one.
  7. Pretty sure it's a fail if you ride past a junction with your indicator on. Cancel early if going blue would be my suggestion.
  8. Must admit it takes me a while to get ready. Usually a number of trips back upstairs for gloves / waterproofs etc. I've stopped putting my helmet on before my earplugs though, so there is hope. Next house will have a double garage with an automatically closing door. Prefereably heated, so I can leave the gear in there without it getting damp. Well, I can dream.
  9. Having done lessons in the early 2000s, they do teach a slightly different system these days, with regards to lifesavers. I never could get on with OSMPSL though. Not enough letters. When turning right, for example, there's at least ten things to remember. Check Mirror Signal Lifesaver Manoeuvre (into position 3) Slow down Lifesaver / look Focus on where you are going Turn Speed - get going again Cancel indicator I call this the MSLMSLFTSC system (patent pending).
  10. My mum has a lovely set of ornate drawer handles that arrived in her kitchen about the same time the receivers were called in to my dad's old factory. It's funny how things seem to go missing when there's a lot of change happening.
  11. Agree with the above. Insurance costs might be the deciding factor though.
  12. Hi, welcome
  13. I was looking to see how much it would cost to get my 22 year old on the road with a CBT as a new 125 rider (bike garaged). Cheapest was £860, and that was Third Party Only (no fire or theft cover). Fully comp. with £400 excess was around £1250. Both included commuting, 4000 miles a year.
  14. Apparently she did report it. Don't know the outcome.
  15. I saw that in a documentary once. I think it had Kevin Costner in it.
  16. I saw that first clip a few days ago and was trying to work out whether she'd done anything wrong by filtering to the front of the queue. The regs depict crossings with zigzag lines along both sides of each approach (ie. two sets of zigzags down the centre of the road) meaning no overtaking, but here there is a broken hatch marking, and plenty of space to pull back in ahead of the nob in the Astra. Whether the fact that you can filter on a broken hatch section overrides the single zigzag on the left is one for the experts. Either way, it seemed fair enough to me. But if you're going to do it, get away quick and don't get in anyone's way. No point hanging about for an argument. Clearly no excuse for what the guy did in any case.
  17. Quite like the look of the Honda Rebel CMX1100 but I'm not sure about that stock pillion seat. Hello, by the way
  18. It's a tough one, it's not just about size but shape as well. My local shop won't sell you a hemet unless they're happy it's a good fit for you. Have bought helmets online before, but only because they didn't have my colour in the shop at the time. Must have tried 4 or 5 XL size helmets before I found one that felt right.
  19. Odd. Won't DVLA have the VIN no. on file?
  20. For the same reason that you should never get involved in a land war in Asia.
  21. There's a bike shop not far from us down a cobbled street. Always struck me as sub-optimal.
  22. Agree. Planning something similar from the Wirral. Could get to Folkestone for the tunnel in 5 hours on the motorway, but where's the fun in that?
  23. Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.
