  1. Why don't you do your own maintenance?
  2. Put a drop of oil on the valve stem before you slide it into the guide. It won't stay there long anyway.
  3. If you end up with a cruiser, go 8' long and 3' wide, weight 300kg. I'll measure Fazer 1000 later.
  4. Check for sparks, then check ignition circuit.
  5. Too easy.
  6. The hotter the sump gets, the more likely the nut is to come loose or fall out. I suggest you do it sooner than later or at least wire it to a sump bolt.
  7. Doesn't look shiny enough for a helicoil. The cross section is diamond shaped. Looks like alloy thread or thread insert. Either way, you will probably have to repair the sump thread eventually.
  8. Drill more holes in the loud one, and /or weld on a length of perforated tube. Save the quiet one for Mot's.
  9. ACF50 on a rag. Smear it everywhere except brakes, tyres and seat.
  10. Put it back to standard and just change the gearing.
  11. If you want to convert to normal pattern, you will need a linkage and another nearby pivot point.
  12. So is it normal shift pattern if you use the front of the lever and reversed if you use the back?
  13. It's a detent. Designed to keep the gear selector drum in the neutral position with minimum friction.
  14. Why would you check the clutch,? It's got nothing to do with the clutch.
  15. You probably need to get a workshop manual for your particular bike to make sure it goes back together properly.
  16. Thanks FB. Parts 19 & 22. It makes sure that the selector drum stops in a particular position and doesn't continue turning.
  17. Can't fix stupid.
  18. Good post MB. In that case it could be the gearbox selector detent spring and ball end. The spring goes in first whilst the ball end is inserted in the spring. Screw the plug in carefully with a new washer or sealant, then stroke the gearbox.
  19. That thing on the right has nothing to do with the oil drain. Looks like part of the gear selection mechanism. Got a bigger pic cycle of it?
  20. Yes you probably can with a linkage. A picture of the gear lever area would help,?
  21. Personally, I'd stick with a did. I'm in hastings. I'll do the work if you fancy a ride down.
  22. Make sure plugs are sparking OK, then try opening air screws 1/4 turn. Carbs should be fully stripped and cleaned if this doesn't work.
  23. My Schuberth C3 wasn't quiet.
  24. Remove head, cam and valves. Pull seals off with long nose pliers. Push new seals on with a thumb. While head stripped, have valve seats and valve faces refaced for more power. Clean ports with rotary wire brushes. Easy job. Where are you based?
