Had a ride yesterday in the first real heat of the year and with all vents open it was lovely, but very noisy! There is a huge difference in noise between all open and all closed.

In this country, with the sun low in the sky for long periods of time in the morning and evening, I think an internal sun visor is essential, however, they vary in effectiveness. The ones on my Cabergs have been good, the Shark Evoline is excellent and the AVG K3 OK. The K3 does not cover the eyes so well and it is not dark enough.

I glamp as much as possible. Plus getting pissed helps.

I have had no issues with them either. But with the unreliable sizing of helmets, jackets and trousers, I would not buy online for any of them.

You took a chance and sadly it did not work out. You take a chance buying anything mechanical. It is sad about Sinnis as the whole point was a UK company promising Chinese bikes with proper quality control and back up service. That is where they have let you and themselves down.

If you have wired it such that the little LED stays on all the time, then I would not think it would be enough to flatten a battery. But if your battery is on its way out anyway, it may be enough to hasten its demise. Better to wire the USB so it goes on and off with the ignition. This thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=52570 in the link to the BBC Fake Britain programme shows a fake and real AVG helmet being tested. Being dropped at speed onto various shaped pieces of metal to replicate hitting your head on a kerb or such like is a good test. The difference between the two helmets is staggeringly large. So I would regard Sharp as a good indicator of what is more likely to protect you and what is not. I look for certain essential to me features, a sun visor, ratchet strap, comfort for long journeys and big visor opening. Brand means nothing.

A simple cover is an effective security measure. The bike looks less interesting and deters kids or someone unscrewing a mirror and taking that. I use Datatag on my bikes. It is a visual deterrent to an acquisitive bike thief as they know it will be harder to sell the bike or the parts on. Joyrider thieves are best deterred with a stout ground anchor and chain. I gave up with an alarmed disc lock as it would go off with the slightest of breezes and no body bothers with alarms anymore.

The vents are the best of any helmet I have used. You can actually feel the air flowing through. Other helmets (the Caberg V2R being the worst) have vents which I have my suspicions about as there is no difference whatever way the vent is.

I have bought a K3 with the Simoncelli colours and the SV, so a flip down sun visor. I like the little tab at the front to push the visor up slightly for demisting. It was bought including the pinlock (£170 from J&S), so between the two, no misting problems (so far). I find it is quieter than my other helmets, especially since the noise seems outside the helmet and not inside with me. I went to park where you did for the Spurn Lightship, but a dodgy looking guy on a bicycle appeared and insisted I give him my phone to take the photo of me and my bike. I had visions of him riding away with it, so I buggered off instead. I am sorry to the people of Hull, but the place has a bit of a reputation

Bumber and without being there it is so hard to know exactly how the examiner viewed it. It sounds like the car you thought was parked was not and it was waiting, so it could have moved forward trapping you on the wrong lane.

I have used Halfords high temp engine enamel paint for touch ups with no issues. It is about £7 for a small tin. Not sure about painting a whole engine though.

I find my phone charges OK, but when the sat nav is on, it will not charge any more (though it does not discharge either). Is that a sign it is not working on full power?

I use a RAM mount with a £20 waterproof soft cover that if I angle so it is upright there is no glare and I can see the screen.
