  1. If the weather is ok and we're back from work in time we'll be there.......
  2. Just seen that it says a prompt departure from Waterbeach at 10:30.....so we could head over there slightly later if that would suit you guys?
  3. My Bell lid was best part of £300 when I bought it (3 years ago).....and it still fits really well.....is really light.....so it's comfortable to wear for long periods of time. This is by far the best lid that I've owned in my motorcycling career....with the only downside being the wind noise...... I think with the SHARP tests they look at the effectiveness of the internal protection (Shock absorbtion) and also the shell integrity with impacts from different angles.....so I'm a bit of a fan of the SHARP testing.....and, as has been pointed out, the 5 star lids are not all high-end lids.....there are plenty of lids in the sub-£100 bracket that get 4 or 5 stars.....
  4. Check that the manifold between the carb and the cylinder head is OK......no leaks or splits in the rubber.....and the screws holding the carb in place are not loose...... Also make sure that your throttle cable isn't sticking.....
  5. I use Autoglym shampoo conditioner on the bike first....then rinse....then Autoglym Super Resin polish for the bodywork.....and Autosol for the chrome/shiny metalwork.....and a wipe of ACF50 over the frame/swingarm/suspension linkages/fork legs/wheels etc......and a squirt of Back to Black on the matt plastic tail unit..... Also check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=45359&hilit=cleaning&start=15 And a pic of my Speedie.....not bad for a 9 year old bike.....
  6. No probs Terry.....just let us know beforehand.....
  7. Yeah....Hartford Mill could be a good rendezvous point for some of us..... The meeting time at Waterbeach is 9am.....but it doesn't specify the departure time.....so we may want to arrive there for just after 9......so, I'd suggest depart 8:30 from Hartford? That should get us over to Waterbeach around the right time......
  8. From Amazon......frequently bought together...... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bronx-Wooden-Ba ... seball+bat
  9. Yeah....it's rained every day since you brought your bike up here mate...... Need to check this place out sometime......
  10. I don't think that there would be a problem joining along the way.....or even meeting us at Sunny Hunny Adam......
  11. It'll need a new piston and cylinder head for sure (including valves)......and a complete strip coz the metal off the piston and the valve have gone somewhere (crankcase, oilways, etc)...... Yep....that's what a dropped valve looks like.......
  12. Why?......changing the engine could really upset the dynamics of the bike.....I'd keep it as it is.....but that's just MHO...... I just mean that it suits you......and I mean that in a nice way......
  13. Congrats Miss Meg.....and good luck with the MOD2......
  14. That bike is much more YOU Cat.....
  15. Congrats mate......now the real fun starts!......
  16. Nice one Terry...... Unfortunately I didn't get home until 8.....took me 3 hours to get back from London. .... Hopefully we'll be around next Tuesday. ....
  17. Working in London tomorrow. ....tube strike on, so I'm not sure I'll be back in time. Have to play it by ear....
  18. Reg/Recs can be very fragile......I had one fail a week before I sold my Sprint. .... And it was meant to be a super duper mosfet one too! So I wouldn't be surprised if the one on your bike has died.
  19. Congrats mate.....and good luck for the MOD2....
  20. What about the ZX7R like Mr Fro uses?
  21. Yeah....looking forward to seeing some footage from it.....see what it looks like.....
  22. Live a Little Lady - Groundhogs....
  23. Yeah...as FredC says, the alternator will be putting out AC volts so you need the meter set to AC Volts. How about the DC voltage actually across the battery when the engine is running? And also when the ignition is off? Are you sure it's not just a duff battery that's not taking a charge? Good luck mate.....
  24. True....
