  1. I've used it in the dim and distant past Stu.....but, like most things, newer stuff will come along that's better......
  2. So...although I've posted the pics elsewhere on the forum I thought I would put them here too as part of the build thread..... Managed to get the engine out of the frame....after lots of cursing and sweating.....and a bit of improvisation..... The engine is sound...just a bit shabby looking....so, rather than a complete strip down (which it doesn't really need) I'm going to clean and paint it up. Then new plugs, oil and filter and see how that goes..... Another few packages arrived today......so I've now got the front and rear wheel bearings and headstock bearings. Also got the new headlamp brackets....which will hopefully look OK....although they will probably be mostly hidden by the headlamp fairing (yet to be ordered).... Also, after some discussions with the manufacturer, I've chosen and ordered the seat unit.....so hopefully that will arrive in a few weeks....maybe in time for the next holiday that I've got booked.
  3. Diary of a Madman - Ozzy Osbourne.....
  4. Hood motorcycle jeans......had mine a few years now and they're still looking good......
  5. Willy the Wimp - Stevie Ray Vaughan
  6. As some of you may have seen I managed to get the engine out of the Honda.....but it needs a bit of a spruce up......so, as it's been a long time since I used any engine paint, can anyone recommend a brand that is good? Need satin black. Cheers.....
  7. Hmm....interesting.....thanks for the info Mr Fro...... Bike charger is OK.....but the car charger leaves a bit to be desired....although the phone battery doesn't die in the car....even when I'm playing music and have CoPilot running at the same time..... so, maybe it's not so bad......
  8. Thanks guys...appreciate the comments..... Still extremely happy with the bike.....this one's a keeper......
  9. Not entirely sure how.....but the engine is out of the frame.....hoorah..... And it doesn't matter how long you leave the oil to drain....there's always that half litre that drops onto the driveway while you're wrestling with the bl**dy engine..... The fun will be getting it back in after the frame has been powder coated....
  10. I wouldn't mate....the bike will be silly loud and attract the wrong sort of attention....and it'll probably run like poo too.....
  11. It was only my self control that stopped the angle grinder coming out Alan... Thanks Ricky.....I used an entire days worth of that yesterday.....plus a kings ransom in the swear box.... Will try to get cam cover off and give it another go....
  12. Are you going to do the Ashley Martin run on May 11th Darren? Glad you've got yourself sorted with some wheels....looking forward to seeing it mate.....
  13. Hi Guys.....has anyone ever removed the engine from a CB750 F2N?....I've got mine to a stage where it's half out of the frame.....but is pretty much wedged in place now. There is a bit on the sump casting that needs to clear the bottom frame loop....but as you can see from the pics I have no more vertical space left.....and the rear of the engine is hard against the frame engine mount. The only thing I can think of is to try to drop it back into place and remove the cam cover which may give me a few more mm's which would hopefully be enough to clear the sump and swing the engine across. Any other ideas? Bottom right of pic you can see the bit on the sump that won't clear the frame. Top of the engine....but maybe removing the cam cover may give me a few more mm's Rear of engine hard against the engine mount.
  14. Congrats mate.....and good luck with the MOD2.......
  15. Yeah....sounds like your reg/rec is stuffed.....should be getting 14v+ when revving the bike.... Had a similar problem on the Sprint just before I sold it.....changing the Reg/Rec sorted it out.....
  16. Mmmm.....are you thinking of an Optimate?.....which is really just a fancy charger.....but it's not connected to the battery all the time....but the connectors for it generally are.... Sounds like you may have a wiring issue.....
  17. That's a shame Darren. Have you get a bike sorted now then mate?

    Iffy speedo

Are you running standard sprockets?.....any change there could throw your speedo off.....
  19. Looking good for this evening...... Speedie cleaned after his run to Sarfend yesterday......ready for a nice little pootle over to Conington....
  20. Essex firebikes had a stand.....had a red s1000rr all liveried up with the reflective markings that they use..... Dunno about the Margate run.....bit of a haul for us for a day out! Have to think about that one...
  21. Maybe next year then joeman.... looking forward to seeing some of the video footage you got.....

    fan question

Could also be an air lock in the water jacket......but, to me, it sounds like the temp switch is not operating.....test as suggested above. Also check that the thermostat is opening......could be that water is not circulating through the rad if the thermostat isn't opening.....
  23. No probs mate...... Not saying to not bother with a disk lock......just saying that you probably don't need to spend a fortune on one..... Any Thatcham approved lock should be OK....
  24. Normally the locking pins will go through the holes in the disk rotor carrier and these holes are normally reasonably big....so the 10mm and probably the 14mm should fit..... See the picture on this ad and you'll see that the holes where the pin will go through are pretty big: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Dayto ... 2572c5ebee
