  1. The original post was from a month ago mate.....but if the weathers OK there may be some interest...... Pop along to the Newbies and introduce yourself to the guys when you can.....you may find a few more guys local to you that'll be up for some rideouts......
  2. Get a Scottoiler.....saves all this farting about.......
  3. Yeah....it's a fair old run from your place Ricky...... We'll be arranging a Beginning of Season meet maybe a bit before then (weather permitting) which will hopefully be a bit closer to you......
  4. Nice one Ricky.....glad you got it sorted mate......
  5. Get that DAS sorted and passed....then post what's left of the bike through their letter box.....
  6. BMF show at Peterborough showground is on the weekend 17th-18th May.... http://www.thebmfshow.co.uk/the-shows/b ... ycle-show/ It's gotta be said that the show isn't as good as it was a few years back....but we'll still probably be going for the Weekend (camping) just for the bikes, company, beer and blues......
  7. Or you could just jump across the terminals on the starter solenoid with a jump lead....connect it to one side and touch across to the other terminal........or use jump leads across from Moo's battery to your bikes battery connectors (disconnect your battery first)...... If I saw a solenoid looking like that on one of the machines I work on I wouldn't even bother stripping it to clean it.....it would go straight in the bin..... Don't forget that the solenoid relies on a mechanical action to operate and short the 2 bigger connections.....all that corrosion will certainly impede that mechanical action.....
  8. Well...you know the offer is there Ollie....I'll happily come over at the weekend and lend a hand...... Just shout up if you need/want me there mate.....
  9. Unfortunately I have work tomorrow and squash in the evening.....but I'll happily come round at the weekend and help if that's OK?.....
  10. Not sure where the temp sensor is on that bike Ricky.......on my Triumphs they are normally on the top of the rad or around the top hose from the rad..... You can check the thermostat by taking it off and putting it in a pan of hot water.....you should see it open at around boiling point or maybe a bit below....depends on the thermostat.....certainly if it doesn't open at boiling point it is likely it's that causing your problem.....
  11. If it doesn't feel hot when the fan comes on Ricky then it could be a faulty temp sensor as Chris suggested further up......or possibly the thermostat isn't opening to allow the water to flow through the rad.....
  12. Just make sure you don't short the lead from the battery to the frame......at least not until you have some sausages prepared on long sticks.....
  13. What you could also try (if you're feeling brave.... ) is take the connection on the starter solenoid that comes from the battery off and touch it to the other large connection that goes to the starter....this would bypass the starter solenoid. If the bike turns over on the starter this way you have proved that it's the solenoid that is at fault (of which there is no doubt in my mind..... )
  14. Did you also check the coolant level in the Rad?.......stranger things have happened..... If the engine isn't too hot you could also try squeezing the top hose from the rad repeatedly (burping the system)....that can sometimes shift an airlock if there's one in the water jacket.....
  15. Woahhhhh, I noticed you said water the first time but I thought nothing of it then you used it again serveral times more, am I meant to put water in the radiator? I was always told you put coolant in them? :'( I'll check the pipes now The fan comes on about 30 seconds after turning the engine on and it spins like crazy... I don't know if its meant to spin that fast or not? Sorry Ricky....when I say water I mean coolant......old habits die hard...... The fan coming on after about 30 seconds isn't normal......so there is either something wrong with the temperature sensor as Chris suggested.....or you've got an airlock in the engine.....or the rad is empty and the COOLANT in the header isn't getting through.....
  16. Check the water level in the Rad.....as the water from the header may not be making it to there........and check that the water feed from the header tank to the rad isn't kinked or trapped. There is also the possibility of an airlock in the system mate.......or even that the thermostat isn't opening...so the rad can't do it's job properly...... So....is the fan running all the time Ricky....or does it go on and off?
  17. I use Copilot on my mobile in the car and on the bike......works ok for me.......and I can make phone calls on it too.....
  18. There are places around that will remove the tyre, powder coat the wheel and refit the tyre.......
  19. Damn......I've been rumbled......
  20. Is the fan coming on Ricky? Does the red warning light come on immediately, or after a bit of riding? Where are you topping the water up......header bottle or straight into the rad?
  21. I think it's a safe bet to assume it's the solenoid Matt...... You say that'll be the second one that's failed on a bike less than a year old Ollie? ........now, where are the chinese bike fans?.....
  22. You didn't knock the rad when you were working on the exhaust did you? ..... Try some K-seal in the water system Ricky......it may just be a stone hole......which is why rad guards are a good idea.....
  23. That's a shame mate.......it's been a pretty good rideout over the last few years....... We'll have to organise a Start of Season get together somewhere centrally at when the weather improves.....
  24. Sorry, yeah I realised I'm an idiot I'm downloading then maps now thanks tango :D Let us know how you get on with it Ricky......
