  1. @Bender  Thats my hopeful aim. Shed a stone off and see what a new test says. Not wanting to go on statins unless absolutely necessary. Doctor wasn't impressed when she saw last time I'd been in was 2015 and that I'd never had a blood test (or any other kind of test) show up on my history :spank:

  2. Apparently losing 10 pounds can really reduce your levels. I have no idea of the inner workings of it all. What I eat hasn't exactly been good anyway so I guess I better start taking packed lunches to work from now on

  3. As seen on nob of the day thread I've nominated myself for nob of the last few decades as my lifestyle has given me a pretty shit result for cholesterol on my blood test last week.

7.1 ( classed as very high)

Still waiting for my followup appointment with GP. For now I'm cutting out crap ( ie the nice foods) and limiting alcohol to maybe 1 or 2 drinks a week. I quit smoking approx 14 years ago so at least I haven't got that to deal with.

Funniest thing is I only went for bloods doing as I had noticed I had lost 3/4 kilo in last 7/8 months without changing or doing anything. Bet doctor was thinking "you need to lose a bit more fatty" 😁   I'm 5'10 and weigh 94kg so while not huge I could probably stand to lose some I suppose.

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone on here had gone through similar and had any advice?

  4. I've been told to cut down on alcohol as it will help lower levels.  A quick Google says your liver converts alcohol into tri(something or other) and cholesterol which then goes into your bloodstream. So while whisky doesn't have any per se it's probably best I avoid for a while.

Will stick to the odd beer once a week until levels are more normal.

Think I'll start a thread to see if anyone else has had bad tests. What they did are doing etc. give me a bit of advice at least :thumb:

  5. Me once again. Though probably fairer to say " nob of the last 40 odd years "

My lazy lifestyle has come to bite me on the arse.  Raised Cholesterol level of 7.1     I'm not massively overweight either so a bit worrying.  Time to stop eating what I want and live on Rabbit food till my levels become more normal. No more freebie food from work either!

I had got a very nice bottle of Jura for Christmas too that I was looking forward to opening :crybaby:

  6. @Fozzie  Quite like Kia's. You get a lot for your money. My Wife had a Kia Rio as a lease car for 3 years and we seriously considered buying one before she decided to lease something else instead. Only fault I found with it was the clutch was a bit sharp so it took me a while to not be setting off from the lights doing a little wheel spin

  7. Almost me

Had to take car battery out to charge last night ( small battery and short journeys don't go together)

Putting it back on today and I touched the bonnet with other end of spanner while putting last terminal back on. Nice big spark dropped into the engine bay

Got away with it, I had expected at least one fuse to of blown ( not to mention me!) but all was fine.

  8. I once had to come home from work to free my mother in law from our house as the door was stuck

UPVC door, one of the multipoint bolts at the bottom was halfway stuck into the frame. A lot of wiggling and jamming about lifting the door around with a flatbar got it free eventually
