I'd have a look at the wire harness by the light and see if something is corroded, disconnected or otherwise damaged. 

If all looks ok I would trace the wires back along the loom checking for insulation worn away due to rubbing or corrosion etc

The DVLA will not provide you with a bike. You will have to either find a way of getting a bike there ( plus insuring it for you to ride) or what most people do is use a Motorcycle training company to book your test through as they will provide Bike, insurance etc.

I used to have loads all over my old tool cabinet. When I upgraded it went in the skip along with them all

Got the leaf blower going. Feeling very smug with myself at the moment 

It had compression, fuel looked to be flowing nicely. no spark at all, so tried another plug and still no spark. Had a look at the ignition coil and it had quite a few patches of rust all over. Gave it a scrub down and put it back together and got a nice bright spark , wasn't expecting it to work and had took the below photo so I could look on ebay later for a new coil.

It pretty much fired up on first pull and is running fine. Bargain! 

Never even thought of something like that. Its mainly to stop me sweeping the driveway constantly as we live opposite some woods and the amount of leaves we get in the garden during autumn is incredible.

Also my eldest daughter, her fiance and our 2 grandchildren are moving back in with us for approx 6 weeks while they are sorting their new house move. That means I'm looking for lots of shed projects to keep me busy and out of the house!

Makita 4 stroke leaf blower. Sold as spares or repairs, was working last year when put into storage and now won't start. Hoping it just needs a carb clean and maybe a new spark plug. Will find out on Friday when I get to have time off to play.

And please don't ask me why I need or want it, already going to get that from the Wife

At least it introduced me to this guy who shares my opinion and does some entertaining youtube videos about them.

I used to work with a fryer who was a conspiracy nut. It gave me some entertainment at work when I was bored winding him up 

He absolutely believed that tv and radio had subliminal messages imbedded into them that would make him do as the government wanted. Apparently dvds, cd's, tapes etc were safe and it was only live broadcasts that could harm you. I used to turn the radio up when he'd walk in and watch him sweat

@Yorky  I work with a lot of 16 year olds.  One said to me the other day he had seen this pretty weird but still good film on netflix. He said it was really old so I might not of heard of it but should give it a try, Called Pulp Fiction

I have a petrol stihl hedge trimmer. Was my father-in-laws back when he had a landscaping business so is a bit of a monster   I bought a makita cordless hedge trimmer last year and I find myself reaching for that everytime I do the hedges now. It's lighter and powerful enough for what I need.

I was actually very surprised how good it is, I never really rated battery garden stuff before

We gave up using indeed to get people after we put on an advert once. Asked for a minimum of 3-5 years experience working as a fryer for all applicants. They sent us one guy who had worked in Mcdonalds as a summer job back when he was 16 almost 20 years ago!! no other food related experience on his CV. He had worked as a data input clerk for practically all his work life
