  1. Actually I think your right
  2. more bhp for the straights Do they just have more BHP or does the engine mapping change it into a screamer for the straights?
  3. But can anybody explain why you'd have a big bang four cylinder engine as oppossed to a twin?
  4. With a screamer the cylinders all fire one after another just like your bike. The theory is lets say it took four seconds for all the cylinders to fire, in a screamer that would be one second intervals but a big bang engine with them firing in pairs would take 2 seconds (for each bang). This gives the rear tyre more time to regain grip before the next power pulse. i.e. once a screamer starts to wheelspin it just wants to keep spining but a big bang or even a twin cylinder bike ends up having more grip. Obviously it all works a heck of a lot faster than four seconds. In other words twins and big bangs are a lot better out of corners but screamers are far better down the straights. Hope that made sense
  5. If I were betting for money mine would be on the main fuse.
  6. Thats one ugly trike
  7. In this case then, I'd look where the damaged occurred and see if you can see a wire disconected or snapped, if you can't find one there then turn the ignition on and wiggle all the wires you can see, hopefully at some point you'll see the ignition turn on for a second, then you'll know where the damaged wire is. Before you do this though, check to see the main fuse hasn't broke! One more thing, if your ingnition was left on when you crashed then I guess you might even have a flat battery.
  8. That sounds more like it, I bet Stoner wasn't on a qualifier either but Hayden probably was!
  9. It all depends on what you mean by electrics, if you tore an indicator off then a new one would just plug straight in, or it'd only be two wires anyway. Infact, unless your intending on completely rewiring the bike with new wire then I can't see it being too tricky.
  10. Lol, Edwards is at the top, and Rossi is er.. erm.. not on there. I'm sure the best riders are just blagging it and have loads left in reserve, but the not so good riders are riding their little socks off! Stoner probably accidently did a half decent lap

  12. I'd have said the clicking was something to do with the petrol pump, but hey, I'm no mechanic. What I do know is all my bikes over 600cc and all my mates bikes click when the ignition is on but the engine is not started. As for the battery, its probably goosed. I've got one of them all singing all dancing chargers too (it's an Optimate) and it knackered my new battery in no time at all. Since then, never use the charger unless my bike wouldn't start due to a low battery and I now get years out of my batteries instead of 10-12months.

    kwak dealer

I'd have thought most bike shops would carry spare speedo cables not just Kwak dealers
  14. you seem to have disapeared , give me a bell my number is in the contacts cheers Unfortunately this member has left, and will not be returning. How come, she was a nice lass?
  15. I'm not sure, but I would have thought a bike like that is already giving full power. It gives you even more reason to pass that test!
  16. I quite fancy the Scotland bit, but don't want to go all the way down to Cornwall, so I'd be up for half of the trip.
  17. That's the most shoddy thing, since shoddy things were invented!

    Rear drum adjustment.

I'm no mechanic and its been years since I had a bike with a drum brake but from what I can remember you need to do as follows:- You've probably adjusted it already by using the nut that the blue arrow is pointing too. You could try moving the arm around the spline (sorry I have no idea what they are called). Its the bit that the red arrow is pointing too. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/drum.jpg Hope this helps!

Sorry, haven't been on for ages, this might help if you need a manual:- http://www.bethman.net/r1forum/manuals.html
  23. That does not sound good!
  24. I've got one of those Optimate III chargers thats surposed to check your battery, and if it needs it trickle charge it. Anyway years ago my battery knackered so I bought a new one and left it plugged in to the Optimate for about 12months. I only used the bike about 5-10 times that particular year. By the end of the year the battery was completely goosed. Since then I haven't bothered with any charger and my bike battery is now about 5-6 years old and works perfectly. Next time I have a dead battery I'm just gonna buy a new one instead of messin about trying to charge it, personally I don't think these fancy chargers are as good as they say.
