  1. Same as husoi, I use music stand, very cheap and adjustable height, angles, available from amazon, argos etc, collapses down so you can put away in cupboard when not in use
  2. That's just plain wrong on so many levels, maybe someone should have gone to specsavers!!
  3. Finished bike off, last jobs done, new back tyre, brakes and cush rubbers, found and fixed indicator problem by fitting new earth, and thumbs up to Tinkicker about aspen fuel, that's what I use,so clean and so good for leaving over winter. My husband manages a garden machinery firm, that advise about lawnmowers etc and aspen spot on, thats what he tells all his customers, but of course any who wish to ignore this advise and leave old fuel in machines over winter and then have to pay a big repair bill, be my guest
  4. My rant of the day, got home last night after lovely evening out with my hubby, idiot theives cut wacking hole in his van sliding door, to find it empty, obviously disregarded big sticker this van is empty at night, nobody was disturbed by loud grinding noise and loud alarm, accept one kind neighbour, who waited for us to come home ,late, and tell us, very kind, hes a fellow biker,at least they got nothing, but lots of hassle, can't speak to police on phone in Suffolk, you have to fill out online form, they got away with that then, can't even think about my sainsbury's self service tills that always are breaking and assistants look annoyed they actually have to move, maybe i should apply for that job!! rant over,
  5. Well done, so pleased for you, now the stress is over, hope you enjoy your riding
  6. Sorry to hear you've got to stump up a load more cash, but when I took my refresher courses it was drummed into me big time about lifesaver look, its made me better driver and rider and look on the bright side, it could save your life one day, that's priceless, nowadays you really do need to ride like everyone else is an idiot, hope 2nd test goes well, keep safe and enjoy
  7. Good choice Geordie Oldie, when I got back to motorbikes after long time out, this was bike I had 4 x 2hr refresher course on, loved it, so enjoy!!
  8. I feel your loss Gerontious, that looks super lovely bike, right up my street, the classic look
  9. Update, as weather good today got out for little ride, started both sides straight away, so hoping it was just damp, no problems on ride, so will get out when weather good to keep it going
  10. Wow that's beyond crazy, so close to you, why do people think their time is more valuable than people's lives!! Good you know the road well and anticipated, though didn't expect him to come from way back there, good riding Joe A☆
  11. So pleased your OK Joe, bet that shook you up, people are even more crazy drivers at this time of year, regularly have people overtake on blind bends in Suffolk, just pure luck not more dreadful accidents, well done for your pro-active riding skills, you read the road, something so many people fail to do nowadays, keep safe but enjoy your rides
  12. Hi Mickly, went to auto and tyre centre in Mildenhall,Suffolk, top guys who don't rip you off, bike shop attached where I bought leather jacket and gloves, sorry not near you in Coventry, had front tyre done last month and such good job and done straight away, took back to be done, they get tyres from local source in Suffolk, so ordered day before and in next day, if local to here would recommend.
  13. Just replaced back tyre, upgrading from old classic to Avon roadrunner which suitable replacement, by taking back wheel off they didn't even charge me to fit and were cheaper than me buying online and fitting myself, happy days and much smoother ride, sorry SD for your pain!!
  14. Thank you Onesea, yes I can open small window on shed for ventilation, good advice on cover, will try it both ways to see which works best, on good days I do get bike out and air and run it to cut down on damp, as well as dry any damp parts, eg brake disks, this is my first year back with bikes, so learning it all over again, as I go, but great thanks for everyone on forum that's took the time to help me over the past year, it's much appreciated and I have learned so much, your all legends and thank you for your experience its been invaluable!!
  15. Thanks MB, good advice about using it more often, and not going to do my head in about it, but when get the time will check my work I've done over spring/summer to see all correct, and nothing needs re balancing alittle, thanks for all posts, hope you have good evening
  16. Thanks RWS, yes plugs was something i was also going to check, good to tick that off list first, also will check petcock clean and new lines in correctly and flowing right, another job over winter is check carbs balanced on both sides, they may need regular checking on this old bike, had done at beginning of year and ran great, as i say only just started so now laid up for winter will go through the jobs, thanks for giving me headstart on where to look, appreciate your time
  17. Hi RWS, yes the delayed cylinder on right side, has carb per cylinder and the tank is very clean, new fuel filter, and two new pipes, carbs cleaned, so will try the vacum/pressure test and go from there, its first time it's happened and maybe because i've not ran it in a month as very wet here, maybe electrics damp as Ian said, the shed is in the shade so gets damp, will have a good look at both, I have re sprayed parts where electrics run, maybe need to see if all in order too, the aspen fuel I use has no ethanol so fuel not problem causing water deposits, its an old bike that needs regular love, so will start at what you've both said and try and run it even in shed as aspen gives off no fumes ,to keep it going, when second cylinder came in 15 seconds later it ran lovely, no problems idling at stops, thanks for your time
  18. Thanks Nick for your input, fuel top quality that's why I use it and specially for classic, it's not cheap but I don't do a lot of miles and doesn't go off so good for not useing over winter, I store on main middle stand, have never used side stand, this is first time it happened but only for very short time, if it does it again will check if electrics damp, when got time will check carbs too, thanks Nick appreciate your time
  19. I use aspen have all summer, it doesn't go off, that's why I use it (the motorcycle one not lawn mower one) plugs all new, new battery, the bike was a little damp when i got it out of shed, I have oxford full cover in brick shed, but like everyone I still need to dry it off every so often, puzzled as starts easily first time but just took minute to run on both cylinders, then a dream no issues, know its classic bike, where to check next? Thanks for your time Ian
  20. Hi all, started up honda cb400nc superdream 1983 for quick ride as nice weather this morning and started on one cylinder and then iddled and then on two cylinders, ran lovely no problems, so smooth, so is this because I only use it sparingly and oil needed time to get to 2nd cylinder, I also hadn't started it in while so maybe oil dried up in 2nd? Your experience needed to tell me if I am talking rubbish or have another job for winter, thanks for your time
  21. Thanks RWS, you always make things a lot clearer, yes it's his last and forever bike, so want to get this right, so many factors in play, but always good to be well informed, thanks again for your help, top man
  22. Thanks Mawsley, a lot of research before choice can be made, can you tell me if the servicing has to be done at dealership or can be done at normal garage to count? That could narrow things down a bit, thanks for your time
  23. Thanks RWS, for another great option, forgot about how many services new bikes need, good to take into consideration, i'm glad there's plenty of time till spring, i foresee lots of test rides and coffee shops till we get a winner!!
  24. Thanks RWS, you always add something good and worth considering, will pass it all on to my friend, they all look good, so after service and how a bike lasts is most important, thank you for taking the time to comment, hope your having a nice day
  25. Thanks Mawsley and Bonio, you both have thrown some great bikes into the mix, yes weight is very important factor with his hernia and so I thought Enfield wouldn't be right for him,but his choice, with it being winter there's no rush for him to make a quick decision, though you do get some good deals now, but with most big brands parts seem to be quite easy to get, so don't think it necessarily has to be brand new, i can easily get parts still for my 40 year old honda, so good to look at other aged bikes, will pass on all your advise, thanks for your help as always
