  1. wow. what a grade A dick.
  2. It's a little known fact. Van Gogh was a biker with a poor fitting helmet...
  3. i wouldn't choose option 3, but then the wife is non-bikey, so that's what i normally end up with. I'd go option 1 if it were a bike centric holiday or option 2 if you're wanting to kick back a bit.
  4. where are these pics then?! My little one was born in October 2014. He's starting to develop into a real character now. I'll bet you're really looking forward to just playing with her (that's pretty much all i want to do when i get my 35 mins on an evening!)
  5. I went from cycling 20 miles a day (losing 2 stone in 8 months) to a fat slob. i really need to get back into exercise - but I'm too damn lazy. Also i hate that sensation when you first start exercising where your recovery takes a full 6 hours!
  6. wow. fills you with confidence that he's done a good job. I'd be phoning him straight back and accusing him of attempted murder!
  7. BVG is very good at it. He says things that you're mostly interested in. It doesn't seem forced (he's genuinely a warm and likeable bloke). Spicey is another bloke who's quite good at it - although it's a bit more effort than BVG, he does seem to come up with a lot of topics to speak about and not all of it's gold. But then, not every Queen track was bohemian rhapsody. Not every python skit was the parrot sketch.
  8. maybe getting too much air which is causing the issues...
  9. Ok, first off - you didn't fail your CBT. You just didn't reach a minimum level for them to say "yep, we're happy you're going out on the road!" Don't beat yourself up though, loads of people go back for another days training. Some more than that. Ultimately though - your dad would be real upset if you wound up dead because someone had let you loose before you were ready! With regards to the control - listen very closely to what the instructors are telling you. Do exactly what they tell you to do. They've taught a million people and know every pitfall a new rider makes! Mine was that i thought i knew better than them and did things my own way. Transpires that was a shit idea! There's really no rush. Go back on Tuesday, relax and enjoy the whole experience!
  10. Seems quiet this year. I think he may be a force to be reconed with! (I expect big things!). Everyone talks like it's his last year. I think at most he will stay away for a year, go race his mountain bikes, present top gear. Then he will get the itch and come back.
  11. So Michael Dunlop is back on a BMW this year. he's already caveated his switch saying he's had no time to get the set up right. I look forward to the senior!
  12. I would say don't forget your shoulder checks, not just when changing lanes, but turning into minor roads and before leaving roundabouts. Don't forget, a cyclist or chav on a scooter could sneak up the inside of you!
  13. might be worth doing due diligence and checking the battery is charging when the bike is started. without the bike running, a multimeter will show between 12 and 13 v (generally speaking a newer rested battery will show closer to 13v). with the bike running, you should see something like 14v or thereabouts on the multimeter. Anything higher and something is wrong with the charging circuit. anything lower and something is wrong with the charging circuit!! too high and your battery fries. too low and your battery doesn't charge! best of luck!
  14. take the bike to the forecourt. drop it the keys in, explain the problem to them - then explain that they do need to put it right under SOGA or you'll have your money back. not having high beams i believe is an MOT failure, and therefore the bike is not fit for purpose.
  15. I tried getting one of those machines. Instead it nags me to get up and make the bacon sandwiches...
  16. I blame the hairy bikers good point! don't know why i speak of beardy bikers anyway - I don't think i've reached puberty yet as I'm completely unable to grow more than a bad teenage mustache!
  17. i thought this was a motorbike forum! what happened to rugged beardy men riding bikes on a weekend and tinkering in sheds through the week?! when did we all turn into bakers! in other news - how are the bread makers? we only have a small kitchen and it's a trade off if we get a gadget like that as we'd need to relegate the food processor to the cupboard!
  18. I'm 33, been married 3 years and wear a wedding ring. We've been together since we were 18, engaged at 21 and wore an engagement ring as well. To me, if you're not willing to wear that band that dictates you're taken - you're basically putting yourself on the market! I enjoy being married, I enjoy wearing my ring!
  19. I just left it in the end. They were supposed to contact me with regards to the remainder of the fee for the heavily discounted Bluetooth unit, but have failed to do that. I can only imagine it's now been deemed as a gift as I've heard nothing from them. I regret taking out an extended servicing pack with them now as I've lost all faith in them being able to properly work on my car! Anyway - here's hoping things improve.
  20. i tend to keep a freezer bag close by. if anything comes off the bike, it goes into the freezer bag, then into a plastic tub. things tend not to get lost. if you're doing a bigger job, you can label the bags with a sharpie as to where they came from.
  21. it's a pretty raw deal, but unfortunately little tarquin is a pretty high risk of stuffing it into a hedge in his first year of driving. I wonder about getting a classic and getting classic insurance. that would probably be far cheaper. And tarquin would never be able to stuff it because it would always be on axle stands!
  22. I had it when I was 22, then again a few years ago. Bedridden - indescribably painful. unable to lift head off the pillow! I was able to eat, but then the docs did say it was only a mild case. The headache for 3 days was like nothing i've ever experienced.
