  1. do you drive a car? you can practice your lifesavers in your car..
  2. You should already have a good idea what's behind you from your mirrors and constant observation, and if youre about to change road position, the assumption is that its clear so your lifesaver check is just to confirm its clear before moving. In a very short glimpse, If you see anything you didn't expect, you'll know to cancel your manoeuvre.
  3. I'll stick that in the diary!
  4. Might be best to just put all learners on litre bikes so they dont need to change gear.
  5. Or more likely some retard in a [strikeout]modeo[/strikeout] micra decided to do a u-turn... You could at least get the car right... Yes, I hate Micras just as much...

  8. Each to their own, if there's more advanced riding techniques that i'm unaware of because of not having the training yet then my oversight, however.. I can only go of what information I have been provided with and feel safe in doing so, I was always told that using the rear gently around a corner would bring you tighter into a corner if you where going to wide.. as for speed, I ride a 125.. I'll let you know when I get there. If you want to try and use you front brake around a bend then go ahead, but when the bike lowsides or tries to stand up.. I didn't advise it its ok, because nobody ever comes round a corner to find an obstruction in the road they need to brake for... Dont try to stick to silly rules like "Dont brake on bends". the real world doesnt stick to the same rules....

Been there in my car, and its great fun. would love to do it on a bike. its not as scary as many would try to make out. its just a nice, wide road with a few bends and no speed limit.
  11. why are cycles the only form of transport to have their own lane?? If they created Skateboard lanes, i'm sure more people would skateboard to work...
  12. Can you raise the needle up a notch? If it needs choke to run, its not getting enough fuel. Raising tbr needle up a notch will allow more fuel for the same throttle position.
  13. I used to use CutePDF. http://www.cutepdf.com
  14. Yep, me too. In heavily built up areas you do get GPS problems as the signal is blocked or reflected by buildings, but the good software uses other sensors to take this into account so won't suddenly say you're on a road three blocks away, or stop moving just because you went through a tunnel.
  15. nice one... I'll add that to my list of projects!!
  16. whats the music quality like? i bought a really cheap set that worked, but the music sounded like an old gramophone!! If you an Phil are both using this one, i think i'll buy one too... 5 years a professional DJ and singer here... Quality is good enough for me I have heard the quality from a more expensive intercom and it is slightly better just because it can go a bit louder before distortion sets in, but I wouldn't pay the extra £200 for it. The way I see it, I don't need amazing quality, I just need something to listen to whilst I'm riding. Takes the edginess away from too much focus and just something to listen to in the background. As a rider to rider / rider to pillion it's great. are they stereo? just a shame they are not earbuds instead of disc speakers...nothing the soldering iron couldn't sort out though...

  19. These days, even the slowest phones have a sample rate of once per second with many sampling at five times per second, and the smart software uses the phones accelerometers to work out where you are between samples or in GPS black spots, so I doubt a modern phone would cause you to miss turnings due to low GPS sample rate.
  20. Push it over the other way so that they all go off...

A little off topic, but do watch that TV show "ancient aliens"? In that show it says that If you believe in the bible, you must believe in aliens, as by definition any creature/being/angel that descends from the heavans is extraterrestrial. Chuck that at the bible bashers and watch their anger grow as you accuse them of worshipping aliens!!
  22. If your jacket's hanging up and suddenly starts flashing you know someone's nicked your bike...
