  1. Rather a ridiculous comment as a reply....you can do whatever speed you like....I've lost friends etc to speed....I've even had some nasty moments myself at speed.....now I've grown up.... And if you want to do over the ton then do it where the big boys do, on the circuit.... I would estimate that at least 90% of 600cc+ bikers have taken their machines over 100mph on public roads, sometimes without even noticing.. would make an interesting poll...
  2. Totally agree mate. Motorways regularly flow at 100mph so not being able to keep up with traffic is dangerous. My bet would be that the restrictor is in the speedo as its the only part of the bike that knows what speed it's doing. Might just be a case of finding the correct wire cutting it!
  3. Here's a little project i have lined up: My Granddad bought this many years ago as a box of parts and got it all back together.. its been in storage for about 15years, and i've decided i should have a go at getting it working again.. should be a fun project
  4. I just found out today about the Essex Air Ambulance bike show... http://www.essexairambulance.uk.com/eve ... cycle-show Anyone been to this before? anyone going today?? Weather is looking great..
  5. lol, thats exactly what i was thinking, but thought i must have been missing something...
  6. Move your body weight back, and use your rear brake. If you're only using your front brake, you will stop in a longer distance than if you use both. There are some videos on YouTube that demonstrate this well. There is also one video i saw that showed Americans who don't use the front brake and need to be trained how!! WTF???
  7. yeah, poking your foot out to the side can be a very bad habit to get into, but I do it all the time when crawling along in slow traffic as its its more relaxing than keeping your foot hovering over the brake, and its quicker to get to the pedal than being on my toes. One thing to be carful of, when going from having your toes on the footpeg to a braking situation, dont stamp on the pedal! i've seen people do that before - they move their whole foot and end up pressing the pedal far too hard!!
  8. yes, ride on the balls of your toes, or if you get lazy, poke your toes out to the side, but dont rest your foot on the brake! Worth just checking how much you need to press it down before the light comes on, just to make sure its not too sensitive.
  9. I've ridden the costal roads a few times, so from my place in Sevenoaks, across to the M23, down to Brighton, then along the coast. it get a bit boring towards Portsmouth, but you could go inland some more and head for Winchester... Would love to join, but with long weekend and new baby, the other half has plans for me... i'll be lucky to even see my bike, let alone ride it As for the route, just keep the Sea on your left and you wont go too far wrong...
  10. thats the boring route! If the sun is out, head down to Brighton & Hove cruise the seafront, stop for an Icecream, then go cross country back up to Winchester.
  11. This might help... http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/new-driving- ... -tricycles
  12. But they are trying to sell their service!...... The guys who drained my tank reckon it should be OK.....and it was running OK today.....but what longer term effects it may have I'll have to wait and see...... yep, thats my thoughts too... scare mongering!! they the go on to say: AND Sell it quick!!!
  13. The AA reckon it causes major damage!! http://www.aaireland.ie/AA/AA-Membershi ... ssist.aspx
  14. Exactly. The shop fitted cheap budget seals, and handed you back the bike as "complete". The parts and labor are warranted, so if the seal is leaking, its their job to fix the situation. Again, be Firm with them. Dont take crap like "you must buy OEM seals" they fitted seals that are clearly not up to the job... Their choice of parts, their labor, so when it all goes wrong, its their responsibility to put it right.. EDIT: Read up on the "Supply of Goods and Services Act" http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8253915.stm
  15. i take it you never had new tyres fitted? as they always fit new valves Just what I was about to say!!! Maybe hes sentimental about his vales and asks them to reuse them... Lol
  16. What did the shop say about the lines?? Why do they think OEM parts would be better than the parts they fitted? Did you specify non-oem parts in the first place?? I would say the shop did the job, handed the bike back as "complete" when in fact there is a problem. Either they have used cheap parts (their fault) They have done it wrong (their fault) The fork is damaged causing the leak - they really should have noticed this!! I'd go back and be firm with them. You paid for a finished job, they charged you for a finished job but its leaking... How is that fair??
  17. I had a squirrel try to knock me off!! ">
  18. Lol this is classic! I thought it was a wind up, but you're actually serious!! Great low-tech solution to a high-tech problem... Can we expect bean tins and string for bike to bike intercom??
  19. made from sticks....
  20. do them both together to keep them matched...
  21. Pay 200quid on a chain that can be sliced in half with a battery powered grinder??? No thanks! Chains will not stop theft, they are just a deterrent.

    Lube

I could sell you some really cheap chain lube if you like, but it will be mostly water and fly off as soon as you pull away... Cheap Chain lube is false economy if youre doing any sort of milage. For the milage you're doing, a scottoiler would be more appropriate!
  23. What do you call a cow with no legs?? Ground Beef !!
  24. Back brake isn't there for decoration! Its there for a very good reason and learning to use it safely is essential for safe riding. Very bad habit to get into ignoring the back brake..
  25. So what bike have you been practicing on if your bike is too powerful to pass the test on???
