  1. May I suggest you don't. If it just detects speed cameras or other speed detection devices, they you leave yourself open to further prosecution as speed detectors are actually illegal here. If it is part of a sat nav indicating where a camera is, then perfectly legal. . Are you sure about that? I thought detectors and GPS based systems were both still legal. Halfords still sell GPS camera warning devices and loads of places sell laser/radar detectors.
  2. All good info as always... I never contested any of mine - just had some friendly banter with the police and took the points and fines because everyone knew i was speeding and to try to say otherwise would have just been silly!! Had a clean licence for many years now, but it seems everyone seems to be getting points these days..
  3. But too easy to alter the software so it always reads the correct speed for the road rather than GPS speed.. Would it not be possible to work out the speed using (for example) lamppost distances on the footage? Surely that would confirm the speed shown. Yes, but it's also possible to slow the footage down to make it appear you're traveling slower... You stand no chance with a privately owned dashcams against the police and thier calibrated equipment. So if you annoy a policeman it would be easy for them to slap you with a speeding ticket and you have zero defence. Totally currupt system to uphold laws created by health and safety idiots.
  4. The use of a dash cam is not that it videos your speedo - that wouldn't usually apply in a car anyway - but those with gps register your speed on their own system. So when you play back the recording your speed is shown at the side of the footage. In terms of calibration you're not relying on the speedo but the gps signal which is generally pretty accurate. But too easy to alter the software so it always reads the correct speed for the road rather than GPS speed..
  5. But by challenging the ticket and going to court you risk greater punishment. Is that correct?? If so how is that possibly fair?? And what defence do you have against a calibrated radar gun? Even with video evidence of your own speedo showing 40mph they would simply point out that theirs is calibrated and yours isn't.
  6. It wasnt fit for purpose, so demand a free replacement, send it back for a refund. Hit them with a PayPal case if they don't comply. You shouldn't be forking out more money to rectify a faulty product. Shall give it a go and see what they say but I don't hold out much hope as they don't offer any kind of warranty or anything on their seller page. If they are a business they are bound by UK law to offer a warranty. How long have you had them? You have a cooling off period so even if they hadn't broken if you're still within the cooling off period you could return them without reason. It's a benefit of buying on the internet that you don't get in a shop.
  7. Randomly just found this page!! http://www.girdersandgears.com/howto/screwdrivers/screwdrivers.html
  8. Just downloaded it. Can't seem to search for postcodes What am i doing wrong? The Round Trip function is a nice idea. It just generated almost exactly the same trip i made last week!

  10. Do they need to keep video evidence of "the offence" for any length of time? If so, shouldnt this be available to view even after the conviction? In other words, take the punishment then demand to see the evidence and try to get the conviction quashed rather then contest and face double punishment for daring to question thier authority. It's a totally unfair system that increases the punishment simply because you ask for proof. Next time you see him, run him over - at least murderers get a fair trial

    Hobbies..

Hobbies? Main one is avoiding being shouted at. With two young kids and no family close by to help, any time i spend away doing hobbies like riding bikes is time I'm not helping with the kids which results in the missus having to do everything for them which normally results in me getting shouted at as she never gets time away from them to do her things...
  12. ah but if you were to drive a car uninsured through the drive through you would be committing an offence, just as you cant let your unlicensed/underage mate drive round a supermarket carpark, so technically pay-by-phone at a drive trough is now illegal.. lol edit: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/drivers-using-apple-pay-drive-9966426
  13. I understood that holding the phone was enough to get you in trouble. admittedly my source is the DailyExpress article that states: http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/774549/phone-driving-laws-2017-new-rules-explained-how-you-could-be-fined-lose-points-penalties
  14. Ive been know to jump in the car and drive off then realise how uncomfortable it is to have a phone in my back pocket. I would be breaking the law by removing it and placing it in the door pocket, but if it was my wallet it would be perfectly fine...
  15. Buy some stickers to cover them up. They look like they aren't going to go away without paint.
  16. Saw a bloke today just stopped in the road on his phone. I suspect we will see a lot more of this - phone rings, slam on the brakes, engine off and chat... Penalty for stopping is probably less than using the phone on the move. What would the cops book you for if they found you just stopped in the road engine off chatting on the phone?

That's just knitting with a manly name!
  18. Email from Cosmo today, they are sending me a new one.
  19. Wear it. Most people won't recognise what it is anyway so don't worry about it.
  20. Google analytics, Webmaster Tools are both very good for stats. Also Statcounter gives some nice visitor stats. Another nice tool is sumo.com WordPress can easily be updated to integrate all of them into every page.
  21. I guess its always a toss up between safety and function and you can never be 100% protected. Hell the only safe way is NOT to ride and drive a car instead........ Or just don't leave the house full stop.. Scratch that, bungalow so you can't fall down stairs yeah but large percentage of people die at home, or in bed, so best to stay out of the house and away from any beds!
  22. Should have popped a wheelie and raced him back to the test centre.
  23. 20mph limits are stupid anyway. A bikes isn't really at its best until after 20mph, in fact I would imagine some bikes might not even be counter steering until after 20mph.. Idiot health and safety people in London who impose 20mph limits on motorists but let the cycle superhighway flow at whatever speed they like... Grrrrr. Off topic rant, sorry
  24. New can first, ill take the big hit then levers as these feel huge! Get used to the extra weight moving the bike about before the new can. Last thing you want to do is drop it and wreck a new exhaust! Won't take long to get used to. Looking forward to a beefy modding thread!
  25. I'd struggle to justify that much on summer gloves. Winter gloves with clever Gortex and thermal waterproof stuff yes it worth spending money on, but for summer gloves that are much simpler construction (leather with a lining and some padding) you get a nice pair for half the cost..
