well done on the driving, shame you had poor experience with the learning and licence system. yes learning to ride is very expensive. Its not what you ride its how you ride it (referring to the 125) even 125s can beat normal cars off the line and getting to its top speed, overtaking is thread the needle , bikes are so much faster with so much less so dont judge to harshly. And no it not from rose tint or owt as i still get to ride a 125from time to time to this day as the wifey still has hers with only 8bhp from new so not even to the class limit. Most likely not for most but they don't know you and don't know how you go about driving too which has a different aspect to vehicle control and behaviour on the same roads. Yes if you have no background of riding like for some people ive seen even clutch and rev balance can really be a challenge, your coming from a long way it can be taxing and frustrating to make a deadline so that you're more likely to make mistakes...seen it and its not pretty. yep i been to Ary a good few times nothing to bad about it so rest of the area is easy going. sportsbikedirect are brill. i like bonio idea, i mean even if you passed with your poor experience of the system before your might be still ok again but i wouldn't plan on saying to anyone it takes x amount of time...its a length of string.

Far enough but id rather not bet or assume it is just because, what i saying.

Leathers when it's cold?
RideWithStyles replied to Simon Davey's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
At mph with nakeds or cruisers will be even colder than that. -
. depends on the engine. The gauge doesn't mean water as default which im guessing your thinking? if that was so oil would be run round the sump....the water is not needed to keep the oil cool. Water has a lower boiling point and Oil likes it hot,

Screen deflector/spoiler thingy
RideWithStyles replied to Simon Davey's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Tou probably want a bit of a gap so you're less likely to get the wind boom noise from the high air pressure bouncing off the low pressure) just infront of you/helmet, but no were near as much as that -
Pretty sure its oil temp.

So thats the thing most likely the previous owner softened the hell out of the bike to make it barable for them (rightly or wrongly with settings) as they are very firm out of the box also they came with sporter Pirelli tyres. Those pr4 tyres aint bad but they do have a great bearing on its handling and feel which might sway you to or away from it depending on your wants or use case. so did they soften the rear to save their arse but left the front stiff to give response while this can be bad as it give a hitch in the chassis as the front and rear are doing different things at different times making it feel at odds and terrible. As part of researching your next purchase, see what is standard setting suspension for that bike should be and see if it is still at those cos don't expect the dealer to be bothere to reset it prior to the new owner -if not tou can work out after or mid way a ride mid way if it was correct and if there is scope for adjustment. Also this is good clue if the suspension is due a refresh or replacement if you're thinking of buying it (or knock price off the bike).

I wouldn't grumble at that, at least its working and not over heating!
-
Yes it can. Think of it like u drink a bottle at you own rate every thing is fine but then someone squeezes the bottle to push more in bigger gobs like...what u think happens. Difference is it doesnt come back out of its mouth, its forced to the chamber but the bike thinks and expects its the smaller finer vapour so it uses that map as so but the bike coats up especially at start up or toddling in town work alot, its harder to map a engine at low revs and low load than at high revs with low or high load. it still will go quickly as a 1100 with four cylinders pumping out 150 hp plus...this will be a gradual thing where you might not notice as its just your bike in isolation. just where you might notice mostly on roll on or off at low to mid revs. no harm in giving it a fuel tankfulls of fuel flush and use lower gears with higher revs than you do now to help it out if it's chocked. SD if the valve was gone (default is closed) bikes over heat as general they stay closed to help heat the water up quickly then as it heats up gradually opens up to let the warm water flow out to get cooled before returning back to get heated up again. If its permanently open (very rare but depending on whay type or othrr parts it could be jammed opened so is always cooled. Does the bikes fan ever kicks in even if its in traffic or left to tick over? Is that actually water or oil temp is it reading???
-
Most injections either work or dont work, wont let fuel past (so off by default) or will but either a normal fine spray or fob it out (particularly blocked jet). Now this might give the rich fuel as its not fine enough to burn quickly nor nice. Good suggestion of the valve but generally its one of those does or not, the wax choke would be very noticeable by not running the choke at start up or would be running at high choke even when warmed up. as it warms up the wax softens and closes the valve to the extra fuel. SD how similar? Generally sounds like a simple temp gauge sensor, are you taking of water? Gauge if its just saying something, but if its over heating quickly its the valve or if water in the oil its gasket.

As mentioned before, Racers handle bar thumb master cylinder then it it needs a bracket or holder on the handle bar/ clip on so look at a small local engineering shop to design and mill a part for you (drill, mill and tap) wont be mega cheap but hey ho it will work could look trick but more importantly get you on your bike.

Would this be a opportunity to see if a aftermarket one fits and if its anygood?
-
IF- bike length for your legs and hips are very good, miles better than that red bike. If i was gonna be picky, you could /fit get slightly higher and maybe a slightly flatter bars for that bike.

Leathers when it's cold?
RideWithStyles replied to Simon Davey's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Yep depends on what ur like body temp wise (feeling of the cold), outside air temp, bike and rest of kit or wears underneath. -
Yep spliced out for the cattails treatment there IF. youll need ape bars tapered back or a smaller longitudinal engine that doesn't put your hips to far back either. lost apannier? Did u find it? Glad ur liking it.

Was the 765 shod with what looks like pr4 tyres? Yes normally RS is on the firmer side of their range but the last owner probably softened the crap out of it including putting pr4 tyres. Well the suspension can be firmed up. so the opposite of the kwak, it most likly started soft (std set especially the rear) and the owner turned the knobs in. shod with bridgestone roadsports which are stiffer and less winter than the mich.

Doubt it blocked jectors especially if its still running smoothly, also looking at the condition of the spark plugs will give you a clue what and which cylinder (if anything at all) are to look at. If one plug is wetter or blacker than the rest then that cylinder needs attention. similar if you have a thermo gun and measure the heat from each cylinder partition on the block and then each pipe of the header. very unlikely directly a sensor or electrical as it should of errored that if drastic. the maf meters on those things are very simple that can be checked by disconnecting it while its in the air box and see if anything changes afterwards, other than that is continuity check as they just check rough temp and pressure within. might be something simple like a blocked, sticky, weak spring, loose bracket on the air flow intake valve. there are quite a few others but until you can check those and narrow it down.

Great! I hope it carries being a perfect bike! definitely a bucket list bike of mine.

Does anybody understand insurance companies?

Now i agree that it is abit odd it should go up that much if any at all but computer has the odds typed into the data base. I know what your saying, The minimum is the minimum but if your higher than that you can be tested to that.... well yes im a doctor and surgeon, i fooked up so can i be trialled on the basis of a gp doctor cos its the minimum and possibly less harsh...nope. Ive heard of a few cases with IAM used but as most people aint IAM taught nor current among the masses so not widely used nor most solicitors bother. the IAM is viewed as a higher level over the "minimum std" like higher education so the other party can still bring in to question your ability of IAM "if" the solicitor is savvy enough and even point to "did you fall below the IAM std? Isnt that what was taught? Does it not say... Didn't you put that down in your policy for advanced driving? " which can be viewed as higher std outside of public sector training higher rank as police motorbike class, highway pursuit for example. If they cock up by crashing into a car at a crossing you know there actions gonna be in question due to there knowledge and class as a prime example. now we know its far fretched for a sole case but any information and use can have impacts on outcomes. Flips and say well "ive a racing licence aswell thats current and clean so that means im better than that minimum licence noob so it couldnt be my fault cos i was try avoid and drift past this stupid mofo", this wouldnt give you a instant "wow this person must be good and so rightfully correct that no matter what he did and still couldn't avoid an accident so the scummy noob must be in the wrong". This isn't strictly god roll reasonable either to win a case nor to lose but as a judges rule is percentages of likly hood, well yes mr racer but you will be in for a 20% reduction for part blame cos i see you could of avoided it or seen it sooner... Things like these are used and based on a case by case basis. Now what im saying isnt always used as a solid one step clearing or whole hearted god roll but COULD be used against you to undermine, sway to reduce fault and payment as possible. Now good underwriters go by numbers of percentage odds of the field which we wouldnt get to care for or know about in our profession or free time (cos really how would?). living with them must be terrible, sorry dear not fish tonight as their moght be a 10percent chance i might not like it, cos you got it from tescos which came from this fisshing port and it had taken them abit longer to get that fish at this time of year cos they had to travel abot further due to the weather and the fishmonger has this and this against him..... holymoly. might be that recently a few cases have brought this up.... or of course another reason the IAM option costed more was likely some computer noob just put in the wrong figures into the data base.... -

RideWithStyles replied to mealexme's topic in Motorbike Chat
A indirect problem insurances / legal side with being and using the IAM card is that it can lower the percentage for a strong claim as silly ass it sounds. when it goes solistitors and court for any augment, as a rule youll be of higher being of knowledge and uprightness but it can been seen as a leverage tool to undermine everything "well how come your client had this accident, shouldn't they have premeditated this and tried to avoid it seeing as they are a IAM? Isnt that what they teach?" So to give them a mark for trying to shift blame because you must of fallen below the high standard of your higher ability..."where as my client isn't expected to know that with there std driving licence" as they dont have much of a step to fall from even if they are expected to take blame. Yep they use that alot.... so the percentage of risk of better outcomes is lower than ud expect. crazy but true. -
All Rise(ers}
RideWithStyles replied to Simon Davey's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Yes but you can get different types of raises that bolt onto them yokes. Fully adjust (vert hor and arch) with bolts to clamp or Ones that adjust on cam lobes there are many choices for you still. the only problem will be if there isn't enough wire or cable length to allow full lock if you have to raise them quite abit. Then less critical but will looking more like fitting ape bars on a sports bike....noice! . -
Catergory C insurance write off would this put you off?
RideWithStyles replied to Geordie Oldie's topic in Motorbike Chat
Agree with Gero. This is where doing your home work pays off and figuring if it works out better for you. if you know the bike's history and what was wrong and who you trust to put it back together again with the right components and skill (money and time). some good bargains can be had if you know where to look and be at the right time. The history will alway have a blip against it which will impact its value and cost long term for some its nothing to worry about. i have a mechanic mate who buys them off insurances as a supply side line, most are very minor imperfections with cheap and quick turn rounds especially for him. one that jumps out was a less than 6month old gsx750 super clean, off memory which that was why i asked about it. from a less than 20mph slide straight on one side that slightly scratched the exhaust tip, peg, handle bar weight and the tiny bit of upper side panel that looked no worse than quite rough cleaning to it but was still written off....i had to do a double take the damage to believe it. The insurance wouldnt let the owner buy it back or owt aswell. -
i still am at heart and in childish trains of thought even before alcohol induced but that is still different to idiotic and just plain reckless. There is of course "improvements" which only effects them or at worse a eye sore for a short period other than the neighbours but then there is idiotic options that can have great impacts to others if when more likely it goes pete tong. that certainly shouldn't be advised nor encouraged on the highway which is what i pointed out. On his own private land or a hired track time to their rules where the risk to others is lower go fill your boots. Dont think the bike needs improving, just the persons aspect ... reasoning see different font. Also pointed out a larger engine bike just would make more sense so this isnt any particular dig. Luckily he didn't say Regression humour neither. .

Not just for his notice but for others who may read this thread too. Spread the knowledge. New Year's resolution on tmbf was to take a leaf out of the illustrious ones like yourself Westy .

Thanks Husoi, yea he is correct too before given him or me any grief. wife 125 four stoke with just a measly 8bhp from the 14 bhp legally allowed could hit 60 on the limiter on the flat easy with stock set up and gearing. just a rear sprocket gave 70-75 is easy on the flat with still enough rev room for down hill momentum gains, thats still more than enough for traffic with low skill. sometimes its not what you ride, its how you ride it that matters...
