Screen deflector/spoiler thingy
RideWithStyles replied to Simon Davey's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Yea depending on bikes body work to rider placement, the best way to get any benefit out of it is chin to the tank, if you had a short spine and neck with elbows very bent in alot of the time it would be better. The double bubble there is a mini sports or style only as Steve m said. width of it isnt the problem its the starting point of the body work and screen hight to relation to your head and body position height, if your natural head place was just a bit higher than the normal screen that db would have worked out ok. But without a side picture of your normal and normal tucked posture it's difficult say say what could be done to improve that aspect, certainly may require something else doing to it to get what you wanting Or a different bike.. -
Yes it is, probably the best option if you were to get a HD would be to factor in a replacement aftermarket shock and maybe fork valve replacement... dont get me wrong stel and MS are brilliant but they larger engines, so have loads of more power and torque throughout the rev range than you already have now which as you found out cant use or might not use so is wasted. they are still designed to make very fast progress with less effort so trying keep it manageable for your maybe hard work, trying to enjoy it and engage rather than just to get there. The cruiser is designed naturally to be more relaxed way delivering its power so unless its the duc which was designed to egg on and go fast. my humble opinion (ive been up and down capacity bikes a good few times and still get to ride the odd ones) the reality of what you could expect if you head down one route or the other. on the the battery charger, as long as its a good one and not just a trickle or solar panel, just leave it plugged in especially if the bike is outside or in an cold garage as thats whats its designed to do if it get cold and loses a bit it works it up to keeps it healthy. If its in a warm garage id do it once a month if it didnt have any real draws like alarms or trackers etc. of course you could save electricity by switching it off it but it will only be using very, very, small amounts. battery can still just die naturally while being plugged it it cant give it cpr, so if that happens it was gonna happen regardless and at least it didn't do it while you was on a ride.

thats great news, though if you wanted to truly test their service you could of let them collect it, fitted it and possibly returned it. Oh never mentioned the sickness before sorry. If thats the case then for tour next bike going for a large capacity sports or stourer or adventure is gonna be real self restraint of not your licence like most people but maybe the cleaners and dizzying weave also could feel like wasted if your that tyoe of person, so maybe a different aspect of biking might suit better? Indian scout. Indian chief or super chief for size your height will definitely pull this one off. Or Triumph speed master.

Yeah Previous owners assumed that how youd clean it but different finishes require dtreating differently, that is what whappens if you dont. -
Cool congrats. Nice bike. dont ride on ice it aint worth the risk... Yeah it will be very different to you 125 in terms of handling especially low speeds. have you or the previous owner checked the suspension setting? I know they look low but seems like it's sitting abit lower than normal plus with the weight of the top box and thats without you on it yet. when you sit on it adding weight it will compress the back (shock might not have much travel too) and lift the front slightly so with a long rake and higher up front already adding to that a bike like cruiser turn to a sea tanker feeling even more distant.

Yeah probably just not done the job properly. I suspect the suspension is bobbing about for the first 1/4-1/2 travel too much and giving u motion sickness. A real close up picture of the tyre , fork sanction and shock shaft (both unclean after ride) will tell alot. twin or triples engines would be good to try my friend. Useable torque low down and not desperate for revs to work. for me triples are just soo good, sound amazing, smooth but still has a nack of interesting and really good on the road that not too dissimilar to a inline4 so it wont be shock. Now dont get me wrong twins are great too for road use that would be happy at the slower and gentlemen pace, still even a mid capacity engine (500 cc 46hp) are still very quick and able that the only things that could out run me was super cars above far above 100mph and other quick bikes but for me more vibration which as the reason i had to sell mine. now id avoid very adventure type bikes if motion sickness is a problem, they generally have long but very soft suspension at the top of their travel, yes you could turn the adjuster in but depending on how is internals have been set this might make it too stiff and unforgiving just to tune out the top half, that then would mean extra money and finding a good suspension specialist to rebuild it. To late, it was a lady variant. thought they grew in the ground? well shame about the shrooms but yey for finding the lever

Reminds me of horse riding....but i wont go into that. when the dealer replaces the escaped parts (free of charge), that would make me ocd and paranoid so id use some mid strength thread locker (red i think). apply some to both ends of the rod and nuts. If it was me id be checking every nut and bolt on the bike even after it had been to the dealer while i was at it. if your keeping the bike maybe have a self check over every so many miles, just less what youve got to now maybe?
-
, feel for you but at least it wasnt far. Doubt you'll find them, the daytona i had was so upset i was swapping it for a different bike the side air scoop on the left side faring couldn't handle the break up and decided to not stay on the anymore while on the way to the dealer... im sure it was still there over half way through the journey of about 10 miles with a few round abouts, in daylight on reasonably wide roads with low grass sides . I never did find it even looking twice on both sides of the road and that was with a part much bigger.

Cleaning and treating matt paint/lacquer to look right after it has left the factory is not just the use of normal washing up liquid route. its quite soft so its easy for even a very mild cleaner to affect it, let alone bugs, tar, road and bird shite just to name a few... then people just put any old wax on it.... -
Ditto. I mean there will be many generation gaps with different views, opinions and ways they wish to behave and present themselves on a diverse forum. sure it was mostly one way info with the odd curve ball, so Nobody will ACTUALLY know.

Opposite for me , im the slave.

Yeah just got to a bicycle shop, pick one up. Find out that they clip on to tiny metal spokes not actually normal wheels, find super glue, stick roughly right and wonder why ur going 50mph in a 20zone and then why it doesn't register at about 55mph.... Peal off and retry, rinse and repeat and not worry about going above 60.... or find the sensor moved 1mm and wont pick up. i joke as in principle it would to a point but realistically not worth it. nicks idea isnt too bad but youll have to have more out lay and cost just for the sake of the tyres and if you go to a dead zone like i have near me it no workee.. you could in theory change the gears in the housing but ud need to work out the ratio of the tyres, wire and gears to do that which is tedious at best and realistically trying to find different gears to match while fitting in the original housing would be a real mare not worth it.. geros is probably the most sensible for those when your clocks didnt have a dual mph kphh read out background, you could just buy a mph one and just ride at what you know is 30mph by following some one , make a note then like up the 30 sticker to where it was.you could get a

I remember that aprilias have a habit of metals rusting away in a night and aluminium parts not bolted to the heavy metals blow away... well if nobber cant play by the law and regulation of the uk, wheel it outside cos its in the way, and lo and be hold ashock horror ruffian has yonked it away mere moments later.... oh i tried to chase them and throw a sponge at them but they got away...what a shame...

Same goes. actually should that be stomach can cope with?? Dont worry No turkeys at this house hold...

Well done bender... are you on the payroll or commission? We tried one many years ago but just couldn't get on with it as it was a-bit hit and miss in every regard of ownership. im sure some people will say they're better now but not got the need nor the feel to do it yet especially with a youngish family with different likes and requirements. Not to say never but certainly not at the moment.
-
Very much so for the benefit it will do which is unusual. Recently most policies like these have become very costly with poor returns on a worthy item that makes picking them harder to justify but that one is certainly gold ticket if things go pear.

Twins like for like (even slightly bigger cc) wins on fuel compared to fours no if or buts... triple 1000 35 maybe 50mpg if i was being really gentle on smooth flats. 650 four carb 45 to maybe 65 if im really eeking it out. the 600 inject i have wasn't that much different off memory. 500 twin couldnt get less than 74mpg if i rode like i stole it to about 107mpg if daisy! 125 single dont think off memory i got below 95 over taking everything possible but inexcess of 125mpg is easy. most trips are out to some various degree, doesnt matter what make car or bike. More accurate way is to when u fill up zero trip, when u fill up again make note of miles done and fuel amount put in then if your not maths guy details into this web calculator. https://www.mpg-calculator.co.uk/

Yesteryears the can was the deadening item but years has progressed it was the valve or servo flap but as emissions tightened Most of the sound deadening is at the cat or more amusingly called the bread bin. The rest is just simple tubing with less soundeading than ever in the exhaust to reclaim loses in weight gain, cost and efficiency. Depending on starting bike set up the only way really nowadays to get modern bike set up to be quite noteworthy louder is to race exhaust w system which will do two things, either change the bread box to a sports cat or removes it, the other to a point if it had it would be to remove the exhaust valve but gains are minimal.
