Jef2613 Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 That's for people who actually need training. What about riders like myself that don't need training. I'd prefer to pay the cost of using their insured bike (and their own fee for their services) along with the Mod1 and 2. No training needed. I'm sure it would be around 400 pounds max. But nah.... I don't get it, does everyone need "training"? Not only that but, days and days of training???? How strange (to me, at least). Quote

The only reason I have lessons is to learn how to pass the test! exactly!!! so when you put it that way, it's simple to see that it's partly a scam. Since the objective is to learn and be safe on a bike, and not having to worry about some silly test. Quote
cloughie24 Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 (edited) Huge advocate on training and £600 for knowing how you handle something far more powerful than your 125 and not killing yourself is a mere drop in the ocean! The other alternative is heading to the local riding school and paying for a 2hr lesson (£70) and them give you their humble opinion on how you ride. The experience and knowledge from a certified professional who has spent years learning (and in some respects always is) far outweighs some YouTuber. Edited July 13, 2022 by cloughie24 Quote
MikeHorton Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 That's a big claim to not needed training. I have driver training at work every 5 years bad habits do slip in regulations change and every time I do feel as though I've taken something positive away. It's easy to get complacent and over confident even with years under your belt. 1 Quote
Bender Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 School I used would be more than happy for you to have as little or as much training as you want, makes no difference to them, you fail your back to hire the bike again. 1 Quote

Nick the wanderer Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 What a great thread. Only commenting because l was once an RTITB forklift Instructor (Fastbob) Hardest part was remembering peoples names, I made them wear name badges. I only ever failed one chap who was dangerous and just wouldn't / couldn't take instruction, I tried everything but he just couldn't fathom handbrake neutral before using the hydraulics. Crashed into everything. Quote
AstronautNinja Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Did OP ever pass via this bargin method? Sounds a ball ache tbh. I will of ended up paying £800 for all the licance training. Wether I could of got it cheaper or not doesn't interest me if it involves £400 of fvcking aorund. If I arrived showing the skill to immediatley pass they wouldn't of charged me for any tuition, they sent me home early as soon as he was satisfied with my ability and only charged by the hour. This method would also end up with me buying 2 bikes which I see as another pointless ball ache. Quote
S-Westerly Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Pretty much a zombie thread and if the OP had passed using his cunning plan I'm sure he'd have been on here telling us all about it instead of deathly silence. 3 Quote
konrad Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I was thinking about this option as well, because I ride a bike for years in EU without license (enduro.on provate terrain, so I dont need it). I bought a 125cc, done a CBT to learn driving in traffic. My neighbour has a 650cc Bandit, and he said that he can rent me for test for nothing. only problem is insurance. but today I found on moneysupermarket, that on hasting direct i can buy insurance for a year for that bike under 300 pounds with provisional A licence. You can start your policy on a day when is your test, and put option to pay monthly. if you passed, you can cancel your policy and get most of a money refund. if you fail, you can try again cause you are paying just 30 pounds a month. Luckly im living only few miles from test centre, so my friend will ride on bike for me, but if not i can just walk with it ;). I booked my mod 1 in october, so i will let you know how it goes. 2 Quote
