rob m Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) Heading out on Sunday morning for 7 days and the weather forecast for the week is wet, wet, wet. Should be a giggle anyways, I'm going with my buddy on his Triumph Tiger 800. We're camping and heading for the Black Forest, Switzerland, Italy/Dolomites and Austria. That's the only plan, if you can call it that. We're winging it and trying to avoid the showers the best we can. As before, plenty of pictures will be uploaded as and when Edited June 11, 2016 by rob m Quote

Guest Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Heading out on Sunday morning for 7 days and the weather forecast for the week is wet, wet, wet. So don't. its always awful having to change plans at the last minute.. but in your case I definitely would at the very least - think about it. Camping makes changes easier and lets face it.. bad weather can turn a trip to the Alps into purgatory. and thats no way to do it for the very first time.bear in mind rain will almost certainly mean cold.. on the heights and visibility can be next to nothing. why risk going all that way and seeing nothing. no views due to low cloud.I think you should seriously think about a change of destination.. keep away from the worst of the wet weather... cross to france and turn West and South.. towards the Atlantic coast and follow it south... head for the Pyrenees... if conditions improve and you get tired.. then see what its like further east. if it dries up you can always head towards switzerland.. from the south. but if it stays wet.. then stay in the west. Theres plenty to entertain you over that way.https://www.adac.de/_mmm/pdf/TK_14_Pyrenäen_210812.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Obviously the rain might chase you even further south.. head for the Picos. https://goo.gl/maps/gUJzjVciZn12" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;and dont forget my stick of rock. Six30 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Fooking weather we was meant to be going to France next week , but every one has cancelled cause the weather is going to be shite all the week, I don't mind getting caught in a shower , but constant rain I don't fancy , the forecast over here for next week don't look any better.... Tango Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 There's a guy who used to be on here that I've got on my Facebook friends who's over there at the moment......has been a bit wet......but they've been staying in hotels, so at least their kit stands a chance of drying out a bit overnight..... Quote

The weather later in the week improves so we can come back through the south of France, Switzerland, black forest then home. We're pretty flexible though so we'll play it by ear. Quote

Guest Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 stick these in your sat nav.this is a good 'basis' for a pyrenean tour.. just follow it round in either direction.. branch off as you want.http://www.gerritspeek.nl/routes/route_00018_1199km.gdb" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;and this is the route des grande alpes.. in case you want to try it and further east is still wet. A route that should be on every bikers bucket list. http://www.gerritspeek.nl/routes/frankrijk_route-des-grandes-alpes_682km.gdb" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Quote
