MarkW Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Left the house this morning to take the kids to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, pulled the door shut and realised I'd got the office keys in my hand instead of the house keys. Not wanting to disappoint the boys I told my wife to take them to the park whilst I waited for a locksmith. Two hours and £90 later I was back in the house, and had to spend the rest of the day replacing the glazing bars he'd had to cut out to get at the keys that were dangling from the lock inside. The only positive is that if a professional locksmith with a bag of picks couldn't open either of our doors the house is probably pretty secure. Quote

MrBrightside Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Mate I've done that, but I'm from Haverhill so getting back in wasn't too much of an issue Quote
MarkW Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 Mate I've done that, but I'm from Haverhill so getting back in wasn't too much of an issue I know what you mean: my first job was in Haverhill (on Homefield Business Park). I remember being shown a rental property there by the estate agent, and there was a bullet hole in the living room window! We took a house in Bury St Edmunds instead. Quote
Gin Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Hah! My mum has done this before.. Then shoved me through various first floor windows to sort it out for her.. Pretty common thing to do.. Specially when we all carry round So many keys these days! Glad it's sorted.. Quote
Westbeef Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Ouch! I'm quite lucky I leave a spare key with my dad and my grandparents who both live within walking distance . Quote
Guest Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Happened to me years ago.. and I vowed 'never again'so this house has no yale type locks at all.. to lock the doors I have to turn the key.also.. being a bit weird like. I know and talk to my neighbours and one of them has a spare set of keys. yes its true.. its not the sort of thing that only happens on the soaps!!and as a further safeguard against getting locked out... I have a spare key stashed in the garden shed. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 ?? How long to get to Shorty's House? Crowbar to open shed. When is he on holiday next?Sorted! Quote
Guest Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 call me old fashioned...seems a bit daft to hide an emergency key in a shed full of junk... and then lock the shed. Quote
