Guest Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Hi guys u have a problem, and for some reason I can't seem to find out how to create a new topic. 2 weeks ago I brought a brand new Keeway Superlight 125cc and it's my first bike. I was just on my way home from work when I thought it needed topping up (first time ever filling any vehicle up so I took my time) I ended up over filling it still somehow.. I know I'm a noob but I just want to know if the bike will be okay? I haven't checked for leaks or anything yet as it's still pitch black outside but I could hear ticking noises. Thanks in advance and apologies for being such a noob! Quote
Westbeef Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) Overfilling the fuel? Didn't think there was such a thing . Apart from having it pouring over the tank of course. Edited March 10, 2017 by Westbeef Quote
Hoggs Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I can't seem to find out how to create a new topic. Hiya, I've split this off from the other thread for you. You need to go in to a forum section (eg pitstop) and then there will be a "new Topic" button above the list of existing threads. As beefy said apart from getting fuel everywhere which should evaporate off shouldn't be too much of an issue... if it didn't catch fire on the way home you're probably fine Quote
NeilM Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I think we have all done the petrol station shuffle frantically looking for the paper towels Quote
onesea Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I did this yesterday topping my bike up from a can in my garage, I used the petrol covered cloth to clean a couple of greasy marks of the bike and forks whilst I was at it.... I hope they design bike to consider idiots like us Quote
Lateralus Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 The ticking noises are probably just the bike cooling down too - pretty much all vehicles with engines will tick when first stopped. Quote

Throttled Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 There is a fuel catch around the hole which should drain down a pipe to below the bike or back into the tank as shown herehttp://www.motorcycleinfo.co.uk/resources/6795/assets/images/FAQs/fuel_filler/r1200gs_fuel_tank_mod18.jpgSpilling some onto the tank or even the engine is not an issue. Throttled Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 It is better than my one which drains down a pipe and onto the ground below. Quote
