Top box adaptor removal?

Anyone know how to remove the adaptor? I need to switch out the bolt in the red circle of the firts image - the thread has gone.

Above the red circle you see the black circular button. It seems to be the only thing holding the adapton on - but I can't undo it.

I’ve never seen a top box screwed to a plate before. Looks proper butchered.

Do you have the key for the box? I think the key might release the box. Just a guess though

If circled bolt is the damaged one .

Cut it off with hacksaw and replace

Most aftermarket top boxes will attach to the base plate via a bolt visible from the inside at the rear of box and then locate in slots at the front .

Quite common for the front lugs snd slots to break and be bolted on .

 

 

Where the red circle is is the plate to box securing bolt .

Looks like yours has broken free from its location .

You will need to remove it ( hacksaw blade ) and all other bolts that pass through the bottom of the box and into the plate before the box can be removed as it may need to slide out towards the rear direction to disengage frim its location slot at the front .

Thnkas for all the responses. Looking again I figure it must be to do with this buttonn mechanism inside the box -

I have tried moving it every which way, but it doesn't respond. It must be this though, holding something in. thanks

It’s the locking mechanism. Is there somewhere to put a key on the outside of the box?

I’m guessing you don’t have a/the key?

Use the key - If no key, then you need to remove the lock mechanism (Screwdiver and mole wrench) - This will destroy it so be warned!
