Divvy 900 issues

My 96 divvy 900 has started making a strange tinging noise. Starts very loud when cold and soon quietens down as it warms up, and becomes a background ticking sound. Checked the cct, that's fine.

Wondered if anyone has any ideas before I start throwing money at it in the wrong direction.

This is often the internal pipe in the exhaust header having broken free from the outer, and is now rattling around inside. I don't know if a Divvy 900 is built like that though, or if it is an aftermarket system it almost certainly will be just the one pipe.

TLA's are fine - It is the FLA's and above which can get confusing

Start the engine from cold and use a 'divining rod' (piece of dowel / thin wood / mop handle / long screwdriver) to check where the noise is coming from (put one end of the rod to your ear and the other to various engine / exhaust parts).

Once located - report back.
