Gear issue

Hi guys, first of all sorry if this has already been answered but I have tried searching for my issue and I'm not having any look so here I go.

Bought a WR125X last week 66 plate with only 4.5k miles, the bike is in good condition and runs smoothly. The other day I pulled up at a roundabout and I was waiting for the traffic to clear when some guy bumped into me (only visual dmg was license plate holder was broke) and I only mean a little bump as I was only nudged forward a foot at the most.

As I was riding home after the bump I noticed that when I was trying to change gear up it would sometimes get stuck and won't let me go up a gear, I didn't think much of it at the time. I've been going out other the past two days for little rides and it keeps happening and the only way I can get around it is to go down a gear and then back up to try again... Sometime it works sometimes it doesn't.

This issue only happens when I'm trying to go up a gear and I've only had it happen to me when I'm trying to go from; 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th. I have not had this issue going from 1st to 2nd.

I'm only asking on here because if it is a simple fix then I might be able to save my self some money and to it my self instead of taking it to a garage.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, like I said I was only nudged forward no more than a foot, the bike remained upright.

But I've only been having this issue since that bump.

Maybe knocked the wheel out of alignment. Someone on here once gave a very technical explanation about how rear impacts don't need a lot of force to mess up the alignment due to how...the... and erm... then... erm I forget.

But the bottom line is have you checked the wheel alignment

you should have got the drivers details mate.......sounds like you need to get that sorted. You dont want the rear wheel locking up on you or damaging your chain mate

I've got the lads details so I think I'll just take it somewhere to get looked at then. If all it takes is a little bump to knock the wheels alignment then better safe than sorry

if wheel nudged forward then chain will be slack

Gearbox works better with positive tension so check chain tension as well as this can affect gear selecting

I'll go along with that because its the only connection I can imagine between a nudge up the rear and difficulty changing gear .

Oh please don't remind me , that one mushroomed out of all proportion once the nit pickers got their little claws into it .
