This bike is not far from us and it's not moved at all in days, completely unsecured, as are most bikes, it's owner probably got eaten by the morlocks.

Think it just goes to show the crimes are being carried out completely unorganised and if it's not something that can easily be converted into heroine or vodka they ain't bothered.

Last night on the way back I had the offer of being shagged up the ass by 2 nice lads, luckily it was right next to hotel so I declined the offer and legged it inside.

There is an awful lot of car window glass littering the streets and lots of signs saying don't leave things in the car, so did a little Google.

These are just car related crimes, some involving car jacking but most just smashing windows, it's city wide which kinda fits in with city wide homeless sleeping everywhere.

 

Unfortunately whilst I was there I had my hire car window smashed and rucksack stolen. We had parked right on the bay front near the Golden Gate Bridge in a heavily pedestrianised area, but that doesn’t faze them. The police officer said most of the time they just smash windows and hope something is inside!

Got my bag back a few hours later minus my laptop and iPad.

I’m off to Texas next Wednesday, hopefully no one tries to shoot me!! Didn’t have to worry about any of that in Canada and it’s basically the same as the US.

The other thing that we came across yesterday, or maybe just started noticing is the amount of human excrement, it's on payments and later on the favourite place is closed shop doorways they make great toilets apparently, so if you don't have to evict a homeless drug addled nutter if you drew short straw to open up there is a good chance you have to clean up there shit instead.

Think it's safe to say a return visit ain't on the cards.

Been reading some of the political crap and most of the issues are blamed on its over tolerance, most minor crimes and drugs related issues are not prosecuted, police don't give a f**k cause it's pointless. Bike pics to follow.

If you haven't already, then take a stroll over Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito (if you see anyone suicidal on the bridge give them a shove - the great white sharks in the bay get hungry at this time of year) and once you've had a good wobble round take the ferry back to SF and do the Alcatraz tour. Then jump in the hire car and head 2 hours down the coast to Monterey and visit Cannery Row (with obligatory copy of John Steinbeck), making sure you visit the aquarium - it's very nice. Then go to the Harley dealership, hire a Glide and waft down Highway 1 to San Luis Obispo, via Carmel-by-the Sea and Nepenthe, where you can stop for coffee and a nice view. That's what I did. Apart from the shark-feeding bit.

Me and the mrs was in SF few years ago only problem we had was parking it cost us $90 to park in a car park not far from pier 39 . we went over to Alcatraz and it was fantastic showed us the room where they blew up a bomb and damaged the walls in the movie THE ROCK .. the prison guard/tour guide (dont think he like being called that ). Took great pleasure in telling us how the rock movie was bullshite .. under ground pipes in ..fire rolling swing ..doors open from the inside who would you need to go thro the fire thing.. rope bed sheets ..so on so on ..lol . The only place we had problems like you saying about SF was in LA we wondered in to real downtown LA . Went in to book a room in this motel

Then on to Las Vegas went in to one motel opened the door on the floor was the white line they put round dead bodies blood up the wall shite and jizz stains all over the bed and floor and a massive very clean mirror on the wall over looking the bed . Let's just say we opened the door closed the door and went to a hotel/casino where I lost £300 in about 10 mins . So the next 2 nights we had to sleep in the car . ..

San fran is nice, but tenderloin is attrocious made the same mistake ourselves on honeymoon recently stayed at a place called hotel EPIK and outside enjoyed views such as gang members, hookers, and homeless smoking crack!

Thankfully expedia helped out and we got moved near the wharf. Easily done if you don't know the area!

I stayed in the Tenderloin on purpose specifically because I was warned not to - shithole neighbourhoods are always more interesting than the nicer ones!

I survived staying in the backstreets of Nairobi and a very dodgy part of São Paulo too!

Confirmed suspicion on lack of bike crime, talked to a local parking his up and confirmed they very rarely get touched, all they are after is anything easy to move and quick to turn into whatever habbit they have.
