keeway2018 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 hey me again, wanted to run the ongoing saga past you lot before i bite the bullet and lilely pay a huge garage bill!!..so bike starts runs and rides for 10 15 minutes then the it gradually loses all throttle powel untill it stops then stalls, will start again imediately but cannot generate any accelaration power..so far in a process of elimination i have-replaced the spark plugrenewed all the clutch platesbled the front break caliper(seperate issue middle pot wasnt working/releasing).the bike is injection so no carberetta, its been suggested the buke could be running to rich or lean , or the lambda sensor is faulty, given the bike is only worth around £1000 trying to be sensible with repair costs or options Quote
Tiggie Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Have you checked the air filter and made sure it's not blocked and that air flows freely to it? Quote
fastbob Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Get a cheapo replacement coil off eBay and try that . Just a hunch , but if a bike conks out after 15 minutes it's quite likely to be the coil . EDIT ..... I've had a look and they want silly money for a Superlight coil but other Keeway coils are dirt cheap . A coil on a Chinese 125 is just a coil as far as I can see . Quote
keeway2018 Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 thanks for responsesill try the coil optioncleaned air filter out, appreciate your time Quote
WD-40 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 When it cuts out you could remove the spark plug and check for spark. If there's no spark you know that's the problem. If there is spark it's a fuel problem. To me a gradual loss of power, then restarts straight away but down on power sounds like a lack of fuel. If you've ever run a tank dry you know the feeling of the power gradually dying as the fuel runs out. You have to give it more and more throttle to keep it running. If you stop the bike can't idle and cuts out. Dying because of loosing spark is a bit more of a sudden thing rather than gradual. That would be my experience anyway. You should check if you've got spark when it cuts out and go from there. Quote
TimR Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Have you checked the charging system .It may only be generating enough power to partially charge the battery and this then drains over usage and reduces the power significantly ... Quote
mike_smith Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I had a similar problem many years ago and it was the vent to the fuel tank blocked. A vacuum developes in the tank which the fuel pump cant overcome. try drilling a very small hole in the filler cap. Quote
dy1an Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 I have exactly the same problem on the keeway k light 125. Did you ever solve the problem? Quote
Billy2william Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 I have a keeway superlight 125cc ltd e5 2022 fuel injection and I have a high idle speed can help please Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 try checking the throttle cable is running freely and not tight/ trapped anywhere. Quote
Adam mchaggis Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I'm also having issues with my keeway k lite. randomly drops out of gear and wont engage anything other than 1st. engine feels hotter than the sun when this happens, and its happened 4 times now. I'm a relatively new rider so not really up to scratch when it comes to home maintenance. I've taken it to 3 different garages and they all tell me theres nothing wrong with it! i don't think I'm shifting like a lunatic or anything as i go through the gears often without issues then randomly......boom, no gears. any thoughts? @ Quote
