Beans Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I have 2 Givi panniers with the same key, wondering if I can buy a single lock that the same key will work on? Then I can put it on my new topbox and one key opens everything. I know you can buy new locks, but I want to specify the key number. I'm going to guess that Givi come back to me and say I have to buy three new locks in a set, that comes with a key that fits all. Hopefully someone else has tried them and got a different answer Quote

Beans Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 The key has a code stamped on it, but I can't find anywhere that I can use the code when buying a new lock Quote
Beans Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 Anyone who is looking at this, the answer is No. "Thank you for your email.Unfortunately Givi do not supply a Replacement Lock and Barrel that is already coded to a current Key no.' Quote
geofferz Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 3 new locks with alike keys is probs like a tenner Quote
Beans Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 (edited) 40 quid, Geofferz plus I end up with a total of 6 locks. 3 new and 3 existing. I would have thought, given the key is coded that they could sell locks for that key. It wasn't to be Edited September 26, 2020 by Beans Quote
Pie man Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 If you could get a replacement lock barrel I think it can be made to fit your original key as long a the key profile/fluting is the same. The tumblers are the same as fiat (If my memory serves me right) and many other makes too for that matter. Quote
husoi Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 If you can dismantle (carefully) the locks you can change the layout to be identical. This doesn't work on all locks because some are sealed. This is the barrel from givi lock, you can rearrange the little bars that make the mechanism to suit the key.You will need to dismantle one that you want the key to work in so it is the same key for all locks Quote
geofferz Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Yeah you can rekey /repin locks with the right tools, or get someone else to. But I think it would be £40 plus. Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Wow, something that BMW are actually easier and cheaper on Quote
