jedibiker Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Good evening. I was wondering if anyone uses any kind of back support mostly when working on their bikes? Ive been a gym goer for many years, well started with weights 38 years ago and I can workout fine and lift decent weights. But, If i do stuff to the bike which means sitting on the floor or little stool my back kills. Its always been terrible like that. So was just looking to see if a support belt might help. The ones we used to use in the gym were really thick, if I was to wear one.. (not doing so may be why I struggle) cheers Quote
James in Brum Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Having experienced back stuff for years best answer is Pilates and posture when you are performing the tasks. Quote
James in Brum Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I don’t do that but it is in my opinion the correct answer. Quote
Mickly Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I use a thick leather lifting belt, no so much for the support, more for the fact that it digs in & hurts if my posture is wrong, it restricts movement, which can be annoying at times, but having been laid up in bed a few times with a bad back I reckon the inconvenience is worth it. 1 Quote
manxie49 Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Suffered lower back pain for years, as James said Pilates is good and was recommended to me by a physio, it does work. I found that once I improved my core stability and became mindful of my posture my back pain improved no end Quote

I do actually try and keep posture as good as possible, like when training. But its the static leans etc that do it. Could well be a weak point in my lower back or imbalance due to weights over the years which pilates may help with so will give it a look. All options are worth looking at. Quote
