S-Westerly
Living in Somerset you'll be enduring some of the hardest water in the country. When we lived in Portishead we regularly had issues with our heating due to lime scale deposits causing chaos. Gloucestershire is better, still hard but still a lot less than Somerset. Yes tis classed as very hard water. Not a lot you can do about it really apart from accept anything that uses tap water is going to have a shortened lifespan. Ive switched the boiler off (wasn’t expecting to be sitting here with a fan on mid February ), the morning might be a bit fresh!
Bender
You could disconnect the tank stat and room stat, one at a time, circuit is completed by those for respectively, if it still stays on its wiring

True to form he didn’t show up yesterday so we had another day of turning the boiler on n off to control the heat but this afternoon man, part and boiler came together and it’s been fixed for two hours now. Central heating is a marvellous thing.

I’m amazed he’s still gainfully employed, full of unfocused energy, definitely on the spectrum. If he’s doing a job however small it’s completed in dribs and drabs over a period of days or weeks. We call him Partjob Partridge
