Can the visor lock of the above mentioned helmet be removed without recourse to cutting the latch ?

A beautiful helmet , a perfect fit for me ..... but that visor lock has to go ......

I have the chaser V and don't really have an issue with the visor but I have had an Arai for the last 12 years so may have just got used to how them work

I find that mine seals pretty well without having to click it locked

As for removing it I have never tried! what about maybe putting some sort of lube on it to see if it helps?

The visor seals and positions really well as you say ... but the fact that it locks in the closed position is probably great if your travelling at trans-light speeds ... but on the Himma or the MZ’s ... it’s a nuisance ...

I do wonder of the pivot cover is removable and there is a screw under the bung that would allow damage free removal of the lock mechanism ... just don’t want to heavy it ...

not changing it ... used it and love it .... I will live with the lock .... but if it unscrews .... tell me ...lol

I wasn't going to say change it I was just going to say try it without locking it first

I have never tried to unscrew it and I'm not sure if I have a spare visor to try!

I have the same helmet, love it as much as you seem to.... but also find a visor lock is probably more suited to a track day than everyday use. A two handed manoeuvre to open your visor is a right faff!

Two handed?

What the hell are you doing?

I find with gloves on the second hand is useful for holding the chin bar down. But even if you do it one handed, it assumes you've but the bike in neutral before stopping as it's definitely designed for the left hand.

The trick is to hook your thumb under the lock and pull it so the visor comes outwards a bit rather than just trying to open it straight up like other visors

Guaranteed I won't be buying an Arai as I flip my visor up whenever I'm in a 30 zone or if I'm stopped at lights.

So do I! with my Arai!

in fact it comes up at speeds less than about 50 - 60

I don’t think it’s all Arai models ....

It may not be! but mine has it ;-)

The biggest issue is that the tab to lift the visor up (not to unlock it), especially when wearing winter gloves, is tinsy tiny. And cracking the visor open is most essential is in colder weather when you're wearing thicker gloves....

Gratuitously taken from a Bennetts review.

The visor mechanism on the Chaser-X is the same as the RX-7V; there’s a latch on the left of the helmet you push up and then allow your thumb to follow through to the visor. I’m not going to lie; it took some getting used to. For about the first two weeks I would sit there fumbling around, eventually removing my gloves, before managing to lift the visor. Now though it’s not a problem at all, and the added security of having the visor locked actually makes a lot of sense.

Is this a lever?

No that's the latch to unlock. As Bender's Bennett's piece says, you then move your thumb to the visor itself (the dipped part of the visor there) to push it up.

The unlocking is easy, convincing the visor to lift is the more skilled bit
