barnesy1977 Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 After 10 years of not owning a Sports bike, I recently bought a CBR650F 2018. Although I absolutely love the look it, and the riding position, I wish it was a little more powerful. I've had older CBR600s and Thundercats, ZZRs etc, and they all felt much quicker and more fun than my latest one, whilst maintaining a comfy ride position. They used to be 105bhp or so, whereas the CBR650 is now just 85bhp or so - although I appreciate you can get more from 85bhp than 15 years ago ! I recently had a go on a friend's 2020 CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade and jeez it was fast (too fast tbh) but so much fun! But the riding position was too bent over for regular comfortable use - even in his own words too. Is there a modern bike that maintains a similar ride position of the CBR650F but with more power (not necessarily as much as the 1000RR Fireblade lol!). It's gotta look nice too ! Please - only constructive, friendly replies. If you can't do this, I'd rather you didn't respond ; - ) Thanks in advance Quote
fullscreenaging Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 I’m just gonna put this here regarding the last bit of the post. Red rag and bull In answer to your question. VFR 800 1000 SX Quote
bonio Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Any more needs or wants? Would you consider a naked? A street triple? A Brutale? A Shiver? What about price? A BMW S1000XR is a lunatic machine with good manners and a supercomfy ride - if you can put up with the vibes. But if you want a sports look then @fullscreenaging's Z1000SX idea is a great suggestion - a cracking bike, with a sports soul, but a more comfortable riding position. The VFR is bit sportier in body position, but easier than full-on sportsbike. Quote
barnesy1977 Posted April 29, 2021 Author Posted April 29, 2021 (edited) Thanks both - great suggestions. Does the Z1000SX have that same slightly touring ride position of my CBR650 rather than a full-on bent-over of the Fireblade I tried ? The price doesn't matter too much. I like sports / sports-touring rather than naked : - ) Edited April 29, 2021 by barnesy1977 Quote

If I were in your position I’d be visiting dealerships, sitting on bikes, using Ergonomics checker to check riding positions, and checking spec sheets. Quote
barnesy1977 Posted April 30, 2021 Author Posted April 30, 2021 Thanks - great website that Ergo checker. I think the Z1000sx is what I'm after - thanks for you help all ! 1 Quote

SometimesSansEngine Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 I was exceptionally tempted by the Z1000SX last time I was looking. There's a few hammered ones out there though so watch out for that. Look out for one with the full luggage, even if you never use it it'll really help your resale value and the way the attachment system is designed the bike doesn't look weird without them on. Finally, it has to be green (the thing that really hampered my search - I wanted in reasonable nick, with side panniers and green) Quote
Fleck Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 I'd seriously consider the Duke 890. 119bhp and only about 170kg. Nice looking bike too IMO Quote
