Pbassred Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 I was checking online to find out the date for my MOT and it flagged up untaxed! OK, so maybe I missed the letter. No worries. I went on line, but it only lets you tax it from the beginning of the month. Is there a way to pay the outstanding amount? Do they come looking ? Quote

Stu Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Well hopefully they are that far behind that you slipped through the net! Just say you sorned it via the post so its not your fault it never arrived Quote
Ian Frog Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 I had a similar problem on 2 bikes and when I enquired I was told that due to Covid a lot of things are a bit up in the air at the moment. I put them both on SORN until I can arrange MOT etc. Hope that you get it sorted. Cheers Ian Quote
S-Westerly Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 My bike is due its first mot in June and of course I'm away. Usually I renew my road fund remotely but of course I can't without an mot so I'll probably sorn it until I get home although it's stashed in a garage at the moment so not exactly an issue. Of course I'd need to ride it somewhere to get mot so how can I tax it? A conundrum. Quote
onesea Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 @S-Westerly I believe you can take it to a local mot station get it Mot'd without tax Modern system is such as soon as Mot'd you can tax it within minutes. Insurance can get funny about insuring a bike that has no Tax or Mot. Mine did I had to explain that it would be MOT'd once I had it insured Simple solution don't tell them, if they don't ask. Quote

Providing you have made an appointment it is legal to ride to your "nearest" MOT station and then once you have a pass certificate you can tax the vehicle and away you go. This what I will have to do with the Busa and the ZRX and as we are moving it is why I recently asked about bike couriers as with 2 bikes involved it starts to make economic sense. Cheers Ian 1 Quote

Insurance is good to August only gets problematic if I don't escape in July! Should be okay I think. Quote
