Gruffs Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 As the title suggest I'm relatively new to the world of motorcycles having just recently passed my test. A quick bit about me: I've been riding for just over 2 years but only on a Yamaha MT125 (which I found fun but quickly grew out of.) Trained and took my test on a Kawasaki Z650 (which I found abit boring and uninspiring.) I'm 6ft1, 18+ stone and looking for a beefy kinda bike to cruise about on over the summer weekends. Not for commuting and not a maniac for speed. I've been obsessing about my next bike since I bought my first bike and have spent 2 years trying to figure out what is best for me, my riding style, my ability, my size and for the type of riding I would like to be doing. I think I know what I want but without riding an endless amount of bikes I just find myself flip flopping between a few and then going full circle back to the start where I was 2 years ago . I think I've narrowed it down to the XSR900 and the XJR1300 (newer models.) I really like the retro/modern vibe and naked sports bike look. However, I'm quite a reserved rider looking for a sensible bike with decent power but not something that is gonna tempt me to be a hooligan. Are either of these 2 bikes a decent idea for me or is there a better option? Any advice or assistance would be massively appreciated thanks in advance Quote
Six30 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 you can be a hooligan on any bike.... ride em both , then decide , both nice looking bikes . Quote
husoi Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 If you plan to touring then the 1300 will be the best option. Keep in mind that is a lot heavier than the 900 Quote
potatobroxd Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 the XSR is basically a retro hooligan MT09 - but since you dont want to be tempted id go with the xjr. Both have plenty of power regardless The new CB650 and CB1000s are also nice naked retro options if you have cash to splash Quote
