OFX.com for buying a motorcycle???

I've had the same communications. It's 100% scam. One of the area the person preys, is eBay. I'm constantly getting the listings taken down.

 

The image below, is what are being passed as the person - although the photos may be of someone innocent and unconnected. I've posted them so that you can see what is being used by the scammer. I played along for a while - his 'story/messages' below photo's.

It is still for sale and available for viewing in Helmsdale (KW8).
It is in very good looking/working condition.
It belonged to my brother who unfortunately passed away a few months ago.
The paperwork (UK) is available in my name and there is no money owning or finance.
I moved to Spain since Brexit and the reason I am selling is that it costs too much to change the registration (UK to Spanish) as well as the delivery fees to Spain which are considerably high. The UK Brexit also involves customs/duties for export.

My last asking price is £2300 including delivery to any UK mainland address.
Where abouts are you based?

I've attached some photos to this message and below you can find a brief description.

This is a 1953 registered vehicle tax and mot exempt good all-round condition nice solid base would benefit from a repaint ( little flaky in places ) all there starts runs and drives fine, it has been restored in the past prior to my ownership.

Original 4 cylinder petrol engine fitted runs fine.

Clutch, transmission, axles all good as well as breaks all working properly.

 

The car is located in Helmsdale, Scotland.
Unfortunately, I have relocated to Spain and Helmsdale is too far away to arrange a viewing for each offer I get.

I suggest going through OFX.com secure online service which gives you 7 days inspection period on all vehicles for high amount payments before OFX.com pays the seller (similar to escrow service and more secure than PayPal). OFX.com has great reviews on Trustpilot. The new Amazon Payment Services Provider Program for stores and also in partnership with eBay.

The total price is £2300 including delivery fees and insurance (to your address in East Yorkshire). The estimated time of arrival (ETA) is 4 to 6 working days.

I will set up a purchase agreement with OFX.com and offer a full 7 days inspection period through their money-back guarantee purchase protection program. This purchase protection guarantees that the car is exactly as described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 7 days to inspect it and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded instantly by OFX and they will charge me with the return delivery costs. I don't think this will be the case as the car is very clean and tidy as you can see in the photos.

I will get paid only after you confirm that the car is as described. Let me know if you want to go ahead as I still have quite a few other offers from potential buyers.
If you do want to go ahead please email me your full name and address along with your daily contact number to get this purchase registered with eBay and OFX's secure payment service.

I can send you a copy of the V5c for proof of ownership along with a selfie photo holding my driving license.

I have just finished setting the process up with OFX secure payments on behalf of eBay's managed payments program by completing all the forms and verification process (credit vehicled which they have required from my end for the service fees along with some documents which OFX asked me to send).
It may take 1-2 days to receive approval from OFX secure payments and eBay managed payments.
As soon as they have verified everything, you will receive a payment request from OFX. You will have a 7 days inspection period from the moment the jeep has been delivered to your designated address.
See attached my selfie photo holding my driving license and a photo of the driving license too for your peace of mind.
I've sold the house in Northampton due to health issues and relocated to Spain, hoping for a speedy recovery (I've been diagnosed with esophageal cancer).

Scammers seem to be attracted to small settlements in Scotland . I had one of those scary sounding messages purportedly from HMRC . When I looked up the code it had come from Lairg . I don't know if anyone's been to Lairg but apart from a few streets and a garage there's nothing much there . Except , that is , the famous Wee Hoose .

My partner was ripped off for £1800 for a van off Warren Ellison.  Exact same story as everyone else. Also sent a pic holding V5 and driving licence
