I'm sure I've seen on here that someone else has a cbf600sa.

Mine needs a new oil drain plug/sump bolt, as it was done up so tight the head got slightly rounded off undoing it so I need a replacement.

The problem I have is the plugs on all the parts Web sites I've seen show it as a 12mm bolt, 1.5 pitch, 14mm head, but my bolt has a 12mm head, so is possibly a 10mm thread. If you have a cbf600sa can you check your bolt size for me? A dealer I spoke to yesterday is not a approved Honda dealer so only got the same result I had, though someone there did suggest the bike could have a replacement aftermarket sump

You could try asking the people at David Silver as they would likely be able to tell you and send a replacement !

Cheers

Hi @billy sugger, have you got your bolt out, if so can't you measure across the thread size? or compare with a 10m/m bolt?  as you say the part no for yours now is 90131 896 650, which superseded part no 90131 883 000, think the only difference is the head size, looking at photo's one looks like its 12mm other 14mm head. So new one's are 14m/m heads, maybe Honda found the 12m/m were to small a head.

Have you a Honda dealer close to you, you could pop in and compare, most dealers would probably keep one in stock.

Hi @Ian Frog, David Silver does not seem to cover spares for my bike, maybe its too modern, but his system does not recognise the model.

Hello @oldgrump, I might try see what I can find using that old part number. I don't want to remove the plug unless I have a replacement, plus I've not long done an oil and filter change which is how I discovered the head was damaged and it had been done up way too tight so I struggled to undo it, so don't want the mess

The heads rounded, and was hard to undo. I don't want to find I can't undo it on next oil change

Forget scrabbling around on the ground like a chump while undoing a drain plug!

I put these on my bikes a few years ago and haven't looked back. They make oil changes a breeze (although slightly slower) plus no more oil up your arm.

Do you find the oil flow sufficient to clear bits of clutch debris? The graphic of how it works looks like the oil flow is quite restricted. I did the oil on my old Honda the other day and there was quite a lot of non- metallic particles in the used oil, I am assuming it was bits off the clutch plates.

I couldn't tell you. It's a good point though - there could potentially be bits of carbon and such floating about in the oil but then the filter should catch anything that wouldn't pass through the Stahlbus.
