Hi all,  been think of getting back into bikes for a while.  I used to have a little CB125 when I was in my early  20's but never really wanted to go for anything bigger. I'm now in my 40's and always loved the look of a Harley.  Am I being daft and this is some sort of mid life madness or shall I go for licences and get a fat boy.

I took lessons in my 20s, failed the big bike test three times then gave up. I just wasn't ready for it at the time. Now late 40s, still young at heart, fit and capable (and 20 years' more experience as a car driver) I took up lessons again.

Took a bit of time and money. Four "tests" (CBT,  theory, MOD1, MOD2) and a number of lessons. Plus helmet, gloves,  boots, winter gear,  summer gear. Finally passed at the end of January and bought the bike.

Have loved every minute of it. Not just the riding itself, but the process of learning - and that never stops.

I had a red Honda C90 in my mid 20's - my only mode of transport so it was a 5-day a week commute 'stallion'.  Could have riden it for ever and a day on L plates at that time. Had to give it up when the first of the kids was being expected.... And now you have to have at least passed the CBT first - but finally I'm back on an AJS Tempest Roadster 125 at the ripe old age of 59-and-a-half.   So if you want to - do it - as far as I'm concened its never too late!
