My Birthday ride out.

Invitation to my birthday ride out.

My birthday falls on the weekend this year 3rd July, and I am going to do a coast to coast sunset to sunrise ride out. Starting in Blackpool watching the sunset then riding through the night to Scarborough to watch the sunrise.

Everybody is welcome to join me, the route will be learner friendly and a nice and steady ride, I will update the route as necessary to accommodate 24hr services.

Will be leaving Blackpool at approx 2200 hrs on the 2nd July and arriving Scarborough at approx 0400 hrs 3rd July.

 

I hope you will be able to make it as i don't know if this has been done before and should be a great ride.

It's something I wanted to do for a while, and thought my birthday is as good a time as any

Wife and I were to do one in 2020 from Wales to Norfolk but covid put pay to that. I wish you well my summer is a quiet subdued one with health issues but sounds like good fun maybe add on some camping either end make a few days of it. Hope you get some interest mate.

I will be doing it, just not on my birthday, there is rally on the same weekend that is more appealing at the moment

Hi @dynax, is that the National Road Rally? Haven't done that for couple of years now, used to be very popular years ago. But good luck if you do it

Hi @oldgrump No! It's the Team Roberts Live event at Old Denaby, runs from the 1st to the 3rd July, I haven't been myself this will be my first time, but by all accounts it is a good weekend. They have a couple of ride outs, live bands in the evening, on site camping available. It's a joint event organised by our club and Team Roberts

Initially I thought , Yes ! , I could do that . And then I thought about it for a minute . So let's assume I ride from Coventry to Blackpool for ten o'clock . That's four hours on the road at legal speeds . Let's say the ride , in the dark , to Scarborough takes five to six hours . So what are we supposed to do in Scarborough at three o'clock in the morning ? Assuming I stick around and wait for sunrise ( If it happens ) , I've now been awake for at least a day and a night and I've still got most of the M1 to ride . Well I might have been able to cope with this sort of carry on in my twenties but at my age I'd be a danger to myself and all around me . I should add that the only serious motorcycle crash I ever had was due in no small part to rider fatigue . So Happy Birthday old chap but I think I'll pass .
