Hi guys, I'm a newbie, not just here, but in the motorbike world too. Getting to a certain age and looking for a bit more adventure, unfortunately my recovery time is not what it once once so I feel an engine may help. I love my road cycling and especially long distances, did 200+ miles in a day last year, but want to go further. I am looking at getting a touring style bike, but honestly not sure about a load of stuff, if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be really appreciated. Looking for the right type of bike and also the right power. I am a bit of a tight wad so don't really want to buy a smaller bike so I can learn how to ride, without sounding cocky, I am used to being next to trucks and cycling through towns/cities on a push bike, have been driving for almost 20 years and do about 30k miles a year. I am sensible and feel I can control my speed and eagerness. Of course I may be completely wrong and be hugely underestimating this! Its been known! Thanks all

Unfortunately 😂

You need to narrow it down a bit the choices are many and varied.

Go sit on a few to start with, I presume you need to do bike license first?

Cheers Bender, yes I need to do my License first. Think I will go to my local dealers and have a look and a feel.

About @geofferz... he's a kindly soul and all that. But don't listen to him.

Best advice I can give is to go do a CBT - book one in this weekend for the next available slot - and then you'll know how you feel about riding a bike - even if it's a small one. If it all goes well, sign up for DAS training to get your licence. At the end of that you'll probably have a clearer idea about the kind of bike you might want and what you don't want. And the training guys can help you too, especially as they will see how you're doing on the bike.
