Fletch Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Hi all, having to chance some rear brake pads and very new to mechanics of a bike. I own a superduke 1290r and rear calliper is brembo and pads are too. Few videos recommend using a grease of sort between back of pad and piston . Brembo do something call B quite and it’s meant for brakes but can’t seem to find anything that’s bike related not car . anyone used it or have alternate advice on it? thanks in advance Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Copper grease, properly called "assembly compound". Use very sparingly and don't get it on the pads or slider rubbers. 2 Quote
bonio Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Yup. A very light touch of copper grease on the back of the pad. Given that there's a mistake to be made there, sure enough, I've gone and done it before now. 1 Quote
John Metcalfe Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Yep fully agree with all above comments. I've always used a small amount of copper grease on the backs of my brake pads on all my bikes and cars. It has a very high melting point which is well below the expected normal temps of normal braking so if you don't over do it and get it on the pads braking surfaces you will be fine. My 1994 BMW K1100LT has Brembo brakes and pads front and rear and I've had no issues at all using copper grease. Quote
