OPU Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Can anybody suggest some cheap but good looking and performing 125cc that I can find used on Autotrader for under £2k? Quote
daveinlim Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Lots of used Japanese options. Honda cb125f/cb125r/cbr125. Suzuki gsxs125/gsxr125. Yamaha yzr125. There's lot of others from Chinese manufacturers, they are cheaper new but fall in value quick. Thanks to your post I've just seen my old 125 is on the market now, advertised at £400 more than i sold it for 1 year ago. 1 Quote
Tigs Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 You need to go to a bike shop and sit on a couple (You don't have to buy but you can 'feel them' ... this site is brill too.. http://cycle-ergo.com/ I'm 5ft 8 and have a CBF 125 - and its a great little bike - sometimes it is tricky to find neutral - but its a good 'height' for me. I tried a Yamaha 125 and it felt 'squished' (but i'm not sure if it had been lowered) Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Based on your other thread about insurance costs maybe it's worth deciding priorities. If cost is a major issue and then I'd be less worried about looks and performance. Its a 125, you're not to be keeping it for ever. Get yourself a well maintained CG125, very reliable, you'll get your money back when you sell it, as cheap to insure as you can get. Not the fastest or best looking. 1 Quote
OPU Posted May 12, 2023 Author Posted May 12, 2023 Yeah true. Should focus on price instead. Will get a faster and bigger bike in the future 1 Quote
smallfrowne Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Suzuki gn125 insurance is even cheaper than a honda cg125... Why? No idea. They are both slow and basic. If you put excess as high as possible that will ensure the insurance is as cheap as can be. Just make sure you never claim, ever. Even if it's stolen. I mean if your excess was that high it wouldn't be worth it anyway. And even at the lowest excess it probably isn't worth claiming due to the fact that your insurance for the next five years will be higher, because you have to declare any claims. So with that in mind, and wanting to avoid all and any claims simply set the excess to maximum and get the cheaper premium anyway. Disclaimer: I have not run the mathematical calculations. Please don't copy my homework, it may in fact not be very good. Small shit bikes still have their charm anyway dont be too put off 1 Quote
