Gary Watkinson Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum so not really sure if this is the right place to introduce myself and my problem. Whilst out riding my Virago today the bike suddenly stopped and all electrics have ceased. No ignition light showing or power anywhere. Was cruising along fine before this. Has anyone got any ideas on where I start to rectify this. Thanks in advance. Gary. Quote
Bender Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Battery and connections and voltage would be the first place to start Welcome. 1 Quote
Simon Davey Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 As @Bender suggests, that's surely going to be a battery lead come loose. Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Or a fuse popped, look under the seat. Quote
Gary Watkinson Posted February 25, 2024 Author Posted February 25, 2024 Thanks for the quick replies. I'll start looking at the connections and fuses. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers. Quote

rob m Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 It's not been charging and has been running solely off the battery, hence the sudden cut out when the battery had no charge left. Check the stator, rectifier and battery as an all in one issue. This video is useful. 1 1 Quote

Nick the wanderer Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 At least you found it, good job. I'd be having a bit of a look at the rest of the wiring while you are in there. Checking for any more damage , shorts, earths etc. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Check the state of your battery as well. Just in case it's getting past it. You don't want to fry your new r/r. Quote
Gary Watkinson Posted February 26, 2024 Author Posted February 26, 2024 Will do. Watched the video so going to do those tests. Quote
rob m Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I’ve used Electrex R/R and stators in the past and they’ve been great. They’re really helpful if you call them and can guide you to get it sorted . https://www.electrexworld.co.uk Quote
